I think the 3rd down call was great..almost worked and if it did you all would be crowing about what a great call it was. the 4rth down call was a little more iffy , but it too almost worked. If Mullen would have called 4 straight calls into the line, like Cutcliffe did several times with us ( with no success), yall would be blasting him for no imagination. Fact is, Chad jones made a great athletic play on 3rd that robbed you of the game. I was rooting for you all the way. You have amuch better team than i thought.

it was similar to the 3rd and inches play earlier in the game when Lee connected with Green for that touchdown, but Jones definitely made a hell of a play. That play would have worked 9 out of 10 times, but Jones just got his hand up. He even admitted that he was going after Dixon and saw the ball being passed so he just stuck his hand out. The fourth down call wasn't so bad either but why in the hell was Relf not in there? He makes better option reads than Lee, and with his height he would have fallen into the end zone instead of falling an inch short like the midget did. Also, he is much more physical than Lee so he could have barreled his way in the end zone. Lee also didn't even try to extend the ball over the line. He just went forward hoping he would get all the way in. I really just don't understand what Mullen was thinking then. If we would have won that game, we would be bowling this year. I don't believe in moral victories anymore, but I still think that after our players got over the lose, they realized that they can be good. They have more confidence now I think than they ever had with croom. After blowing that game, and dick teasing the whole fan base, I think it's crucial to beat GT. Nobody thought we would win any of our next three games, but if we do beat tech and mtsu we need to start thinking about bowling this season b/c we can win two more if we take tech and mtsu down. Screw waiting until next year, I'm ready for some expectations now and more optimism from our fan base after that game.

the 3rd down play was fine in my opinion. Chad made a great play on that ball. Had Tyson put the slightest amount of tough on the ball, or hesitated, or jumped; it would have been a different ending. The 4th down play was ok too, had it been executed. As has been shown a million times, there was no one covering the pitch man, he would have waltzed into the end zone. But you can also see the gap that Tyson thought he saw. It was there, and it closed quick. You cant blame or QB for trying to get the 6 inches in a gap he sees vs pitching it back 4 yds to a back he's not postive will get it. I think it just showed Tyson wants the ball with the game on the line, and I'm fine with that
I think if our Dline can get to UH's QB in enough time to keep him from connecting for big gains, we have a great shot to win that game.
Relf is still a freshman. Relf could have fumbled. If we put Relf in we may as well tell LSU dont bother to cover our tight ends because there is no way we are throwing it. The possibility of the pass was still there with Tyson in there, Tyson was the right choice he just made a bad choice in trying to go for the seam.
Houston is going to skull ++@+ us. We have a shot against GT because we can decently stop the run. All pass leaning teams will be trouble for us this year.rhs43 said:
