I have a dream of opening a po-boy place in Jackson that uses this bread. There's not a place in Jackson to get a good po-boy.

Is there even a place to get good po-boy bread?

But also... I've always wanted to buy the Chevron across from the Lakeside Mart (Shell) at Grants Ferry and Spillway. PoBoy's and beer (with help from the guy that run's the Shell because they have everything).

Logan Farms in Maywood Mart used to use this bread but I don't know if they still do. And Po-Boys aren't their specialty.

Sheesh. I wish I was closer. Most of that stuff is currently at 10 cents on the dollar to what it costs new.... Globe, Beverage Aire, Robot Coupe, Perlick, Southbend, Hoshizaki, Alto-Sham... That's all top of the line stuff.

Don’t you have an employee that could fly down with you to load it all in a Uhaul and drive it back? Y’all could make it a Guy’s road trip!

They went through a patch several years ago where it was pretty rough, but I believe they changed ownership because things turned back around again. About the only place I go out to eat for seafood. Service can be spotty sometimes due to short staff, but the food is good.

To me the bread definitely makes a good Po Boy. Anyone from Applebees to the gas station can fry a decent shrimp or build a good roast beef, but if the bread ain’t right, it’s just terrible. Either like razor blades to the roof of the mouth or a soggy mess. Bread is the key base.

Hence Leidenheimer. It's the best one I've found. Light crunch on the outside and a soft middle.

I haven't been there in probably 20 years, but Sal and Phils was the place.

Majestic Burger, in Ridgeland, had a decent Shrimp Po-boy, but I believe they are closed.

Rusty's, in Vicksburg, is my go to for Shrimp Po-boys in central MS.

From all accounts, it's harder than ever making ends meet with a restaurant. I know around me, they're closing with regularity. If you have local places you enjoy now's a good time to throw them some business.

Restaurants need our help - it's our time to shine, Sixpackers.
