Minnesota lost, Oregon lost (Oregon st.), Fresno (SJSU)lost, Boise state (Air Force)lost, and Wyoming (New Mexico) lost.
"We beat some very good teams" and my favorite "Minnesota is a damn good team".
God I hope Riley turns it around. So looking back our big win of the year is against an 8-4 Minnesota team (didn't beat ANYONE) and almost beating Wisconsin.

EDIT: Complain about the blowouts, I don't have a leg to stand on. But we won the games we were supposed to win, which we couldn't say last year. It's called progression. And we still need to progress more next year. If we don't, the seat will continue to heat up. Pretty simple.

Getting trashed 102-13 in two games is tremendously embarrassing. That has to stop and getting wins against ranked teams on the road needs to start. Hopefully next year the upward trends begin.

If you want to play the dumb game, SMU beat Houston, who killed Louisville, who destroyed Florida St, who dominated Florida, who beat mighty LSU in Baton Rouge.

i understand the disappointment in the outcomes of a couple of games. But matchups are the key. Some teams match up well and some don't. When games are played, where games are played, injuries to key players happen, all factors.

I am disappointed as well but then I look back to August and my prediction for this team was 9-3. I had a loss to Oregon and a win over Iowa but losses to Ohio St and Wisconsin.

I know people on this board who were predicting 6 or 7 wins, now complaining about how 9 isn't good enough. Seems odd to me but what do I know.

Didn't get my edit posted fast enough... Absolutely it was embarrassing in those two games... But I do recognize that we had Tommy (or Ryker) at QB and an offensive line that was battered for much of the season. Spare me the "Everybody has injuries" routine... Most other teams had more depth to cover the injuries sustained...

We should have been better in those games, but we weren't. We did win the games we were supposed to win, which before the season, many doubted that would happen as well. I also find it funny that the OP included a team we never played (Boise St) and failed to include the team Minnesota played (since it was top 7 wisconsin, don't want to let people know Minnesota was up in the fourth quarter before Mitch Leidner imploded).

That's pretty manipulative to make a point... Hammer Minnesota for losing to #6 Wisconsin at their house in a come from behind 4th quarter victory... Wow, what a compelling argument!!!!

Disappointed, sure. Embarrassed? Hell No. I didn't play in the games I didn't coach the players. I have no control over the outcomes of games. My emotional state isn't predicated by the outcomes of football games played by 18-23 year old young men as I sit on my fat *** drinking beer and eating Nachos.

I don't think fans are mad...they are frustrated and maybe a bit confused. All of us blamed blow out losses on Blo...so when they came back it was confusing as to where to place the blame.

with a tougher schedule and some key position losses it could be a tough yr, again. maybe there will be compelling developments (qb? young oline making strides) to give some hope...regardless, they've got their work cut out for them.

Florida St top 15 team blown out by Louisville by 43

Time will tell if riley wants to win badly enough to make the proper decisions and philosophy changes to do so. If he does, we can. If he doesnt, look for more sunshine pumping that ends with himleaving not having sniffed a title

I can't believe anyone would say anything less than 9 wins is acceptable. This is still Nebraska and we play 12 regular season games.
My biggest fear about last year's pathetic season is that it would lower the bar, and Riley winning 7 or 8 games would be seen as meaningful progress. Looks like that's what has happened. Anything less than 9 is unacceptable.
Nine wins should be a certainty but I wouldn't be surprised to see 10 this season, especially since I think we will beat Oregon, which will be huge for momentum.

I am sorry, but this is not progress. The only difference is that we have Mr Rogers instead of Pelini and both are/were producing the same results on the field. This chain of events was set in motion, when Dr Tom retired it has been one bad coaching hire after another. I was willing give to Riley a pass last year, because there were no epic blowouts; but this year exposed Riley and his staff at how average/bad they are in fact special team has taken a huge step back.

This actually does make me feel a little better (I'm being serious). I'm not going to bother looking it up, but I still suspect NU would have far more blow-out losses in recent years than any of the above teams.

Anyway, NU's blowouts to OSU and Iowa this year were a direct result of the health of the QB. Not that NU would have won either game, but NU would have been able to sustain a few more drives, keep the defense off the field, and likely score more points if TA doesn't get knocked out of the OSU game, and if he was actually functional against Iowa. That, of course, leads to the discussion about how the QB position at NU has been a train-wreck pretty much since Eric Crouch won the Heisman trophy.

I think you had to start out the season being pretty unrealistic if you're disappointed now. The signs were there from the first quarter of the first game, we weren't very good, and were it not for a schedule that ranked about....well I'm not sure where it ranked but it was pretty rank, we'd have lost long before the Wisky game. We're about where I thought we were as a program, so I'm not disappointed. Doesn't mean I like what happened a couple times this year, but if you watched us play the first couple of games, and were being honest about it, it was pretty obvious what we were. So if you ignored the signs, then I can see how you'd be disappointed, but if you were paying attention....... I'll take 9-3 with a great shot to go 10-3. I'll gladly take that this year.

I liken it to the recent election. The signs were there for over a year, but nobody was paying attention. Record new voter registrations, rally attendance, the signs were not only there, they were shouting at the top of their lungs. Just like this team and what it was all year, to many people just didn't want to believe what they were seeing with their own eyes.

I also said that assuming oregon would be good as usual and didnt think wed have the 2nd worse loss in program history and lose by 30 to an unranked, average IOWA team.

Well, I can see the negativists who think 9-3 is something to be embarrassed about are still running their mouths. In response to the original poster, who is curiously selective about which games from yesterday to talk about, Northwestern, Indiana and Maryland all became bowl eligible yesterday. That means that 5 of our 9 wins are over bowl teams. Not too bad really. Look at Wisconsin-the team everybody praises for only losing to Ohio State and Michigan. They beat 5 bowl teams too. And who is their best win? Us. So if we're so horrible, then Wisconsin doesn't have a whole lot to be proud of either.

This is a by-product of people telling us things are in the crapper. No one came on pointing out areas where we improved until people came on saying we are worse than before...

No one here is celebrating turnover margin or penalties... we are pointing out to the doom and gloomers that progress was made this year. Big difference between celebrating and showing why we can be pleased with this season in spite of the 2 bad losses we had.
