They needed to be taught a serious lesson but I think the sentence is a little over the top. You could probably kill someone via DUI or some other "accidental" or unintentional way and get less time. I saw the video, pretty shocking racist display that they put on. I just saw where others charged had pled guilty to similar charges and rec'd lesser sentences, not sure why this couple didn't do the same. Once released they are banished from the county which I'd never heard of being handed out before but may be appropriate.
Please, the liberal press would go beserk over a sentence like that of blacks for attacking white people verbally. Free speech would be the refrain. I'm not saying that the white couple should not have been sentenced but those sentences were over the top. OJ didn't serve a day for killing his ex wife and boy friend.[winking]
So....if one of the adults attendees at that CHILDS BIRTHDAY PARTY pulled a handgun and shot and killed the racist fools.....would you object?
They pointed a shotgun at them and said the kids could be killed as well? Are you serious? I bet those sentences wouldn't be "over the top" if we switched the races in the scenario.
The male of the couple had a shotgun and pointed it at the party attendees which is probably why no plea deal was offered and played a large role in the longer sentences. There would be other differences in your turnabout scenario but I'm not that interested in getting into them.
If the white person walked onto his property, started mouthing off and threatening them, no I would not have a problem with it. Blacks have the right to defend themselves against stupid white people too.

Do you honestly think a black group of 12 that pulled up to a white family having a kids birthday party and yelled racial threats and a person pulled a weapon and threatened to kill everyone would not be charged? Really? You're saying to me that the ACLU would intervene and free speech would get them off? If you really believe that.....you're crazy

I'd be pissed if it were my kids party and I surely appreciate the emotional turmoil here. But legally, there was no actual assault, only harassment.

You might not but the aCLU is about anarchy and over throwing the US. So, yes they would.
If he pointed a shot gun at a bunch of kids, he should go away. That's the difference between a lot of those on the left and the right. Some want to make excuses for bad behavior, some do not.
I think about 6 months with them would do the trick. After that, I don't think they would be able to threaten anyone.
