AJ wasn't dismissed from the team. he was never a student at Iowa.
Fairly clear he was referencing Okie State.

Cut him some slack, he was probably out doing some manual labor in this heat and humidity and wasn’t thinking straightFairly clear he was referencing Okie State.
Now, THAT, was exceptionally well done. I can only imagine his reaction when he read that….Truly exceptional!Cut him some slack, he was probably out doing some manual labor in this heat and humidity and wasn’t thinking straight
How would a coach dismissing someone from the team over the summer have any teeth with anyone if the locker in the locker room isn’t cleaned out? Time will tell whether Gabe Arnold is able to earn his way back on the Hawkeye roster, but the fixation on whether his locker has been cleaned out is borderline silly. How is he still practicing with the team if his locker was cleaned out and he was dismissed??
Probably using @Gobblin info on here as his source lolWillie said on the show today it sounds like Gabe is staying in Iowa
with Gabe on the team or off the team and is he in the Iowa Wrestling room or does he have a locker ??? I honestly don't care. He is such a high quality young man that I am just happy to hear he is getting help with his mental issues and is doing better in life. Trust me when I say that wrestlers will come and go but he is somebody's son and brother and he needs support more than speculation. He has a tremendous family for support and I think our fanbase is behind his healing process 100 if not 183%. I personally wish him the best of success in his future and if it happens he is wearing an Iowa singlet and destroying opponents on the mat that's even better.
If so, I recommend Iowa Central. So I'm hearing Gabe is going the JUCO route for a year, which won't count against his eligibility. Then back to Iowa for 3.
I can’t find anything online that cites that specific event, but I never thought the JUCO ruling was related to total years the eligibility clock runs for once it starts. In other words, his NCAA clock would have started in Fall 2023 and should expire Spring 2028, with only the traditional exceptions. Could he spend two years at JUCO and still have three left?So I'm hearing Gabe is going the JUCO route for a year, which won't count against his eligibility. Then back to Iowa for 3.

Iowa lakes. Estherville is a great college townIf so, I recommend Iowa Central.

But he didn’t do any D1 time, did he? My uncertainty is around Gabe’s situation where his 5 year D1 clock started. I know it’s the Wild West, but it’s a situation I haven’t seen addressed. I guess if he’s doing it he got the legal advice that it should go though.Endene had 2 years Juco, 3 years D3.
Yes.
while you’re “technically” right - genie is out of the bottle. If you’re saying it doesn’t count against eligibility, then it doesn’t matter when happens
Are you saying he might be back second semester? Or the juco rules? The JUCO thing is currently only temporary. Not sure I’d bank on it being the the going forward, but what do I know.
Well. It’s currently in place for the next year. The JUCO thing is currently only temporary. Not sure I’d bank on it being the the going forward, but what do I know.
Juco “rules”Are you saying he might be back second semester? Or the juco rules?
The Pavia decision is a Tennessee federal district court ruling. My understanding has been that ruling is on appeal by the NCAA. And the rules have recently changed on whether district courts can issue nationwide injunctions…Well. It’s currently in place for the next year.
and since it’s a court ruling - good luck imposing rules that supersedes it.
That would be great, if he can get to '74 again.Juco “rules”
he’ll be gone a year and not lose eligibility.
At his height and he was husky but not close to being ripped or shredded, he should be able to make 174 without too much suffering to hold it. During the season, you should be working hard enough to keep the excess body weight off. If he can’t or won’t go 174, then maybe coming back isn’t a good option for him, because I’m pretty sure Angelo has 184 wrapped up for 4 years. That would be great, if he can get to '74 again.
Ummm…what? That’s crazy talkAt his height and he was husky but not close to being ripped or shredded, he should be able to make 174 without too much suffering to hold it. That would be nice. And throw in Keuter/Mocco on the end. That's a great upper weights lineup. So is it official? Gabe does 1 year at JUCO to preserve his eligibility?
If true, that would mean we would have 3 years of Gabe, Angelo, and Ludington!
Here’s my point. Think of the absurdity here: you can compete in JUCO next year and not lose a year of eligibility (or said more correctly, not have it count against your 5 year clock), OR sit out altogether from competition and school and have it count against your 5 year clock.Juco “rules”

I get your point. But to be honest, I kinda like it.Here’s my point. I would be shocked at that. My guess is that he's in Iowa CitySo I'm hearing Gabe is going the JUCO route for a year, which won't count against his eligibility. Then back to Iowa for 3.
I have no idea how it will play out with Gabe, but banking on him going Juco for a year and then rejoining the Hawks next year at 174 has a awful lot of ifs and buts that will have to all fall in line to ever come to fruition. I would say this route is far from a lock. I hope Gabe figures it out and does what is best for him (hopefully in an Iowa singlet), but I don't expect it to all go just that simple. I think he rejoins this season or not at all at Iowa, but time will tell.I would be shocked at that. My guess is that he's in Iowa City
So Gabe at Iowa this year.I would be shocked at that. My guess is that he's in Iowa City
I think this makes more sense than JUCO - keeps in in the Iowa room with TnTSo Gabe at Iowa this year.
With some of the mental hurdles he went through last year that made him go to the hospital, I wonder if he can use a medical redshirt and use the time to seek help/counsel.
Don’t know if that is a thing but it seems like the NCAA has been handing out medical redshirts, so maybe this can help him mentally and work in his favor.
Well. It’s currently in place for the next year.

That would be ideal if he could get a medical. Could he enter some opens to get some live competition and have to make weight a few times instead of just practicing all year?I think this makes more sense than JUCO - keeps in in the Iowa room with TnT
Appreciate the insight!Gabe is a Hawkeye. There’s no eligibility rules trying to be skirted here. I still fully expect Gabe to be a career Hawkeye as he has always intended to be.
You definitely did miss it.If Gabe goes JUCO, what's the reason? He was 'dismissed' from the team for not adhering to what it takes to be the man. If he goes JUCO.....I don't like his chances to get back to Iowa.
Maybe I missed it, but if he's at Iowa right now, what's the reason he was dismissed?
Love the kid. Love the family. Love when dad comments on here because he's so real and down to earth. Betting he's hurting because his boy is hurting, but trust in the process of the man that he's raised and knowing that he will be just fine, Hawkeye or not..
I'm pulling for him, and think most of us are.
Are there many that jump down to Juco from D1 to begin with? I’d guess most of the time that happens due to academics. Shonn Greene for example back in the mid-late 2000s.If he leaves campus, I think it will be harder to get him back on campus. There are not many stories of kids that go DI, then have to go to a JUCO, then make the jump back to a DI program. Obviously, there's a chance it happens, but if he leaves campus, I don't think the chances of him coming back are very high.
And yea I must have missed why he's still wrestling with the team if he was 'dismissed' for not meeting the expectations of the program. Why was he dismissed if he's still wrestling with them?
As I mentioned, I'm pulling for him and love that he's a Hawk.
