Off topic I know but interesting. Churchill Downs just announced they are going to build an 8 story hotel on their property with a full gaming section ( casino ) on site. This news along with Derby City Gaming, plus the 20 downtown hotels built in the last 24 months is proof positive Mconnel is on his way out and gambling is coming to the Ville. No way Churchill Downs invests on this level without knowing something.
Personally I love it. Waaaaaaaayyy. over due. The influx of revenue will help the citiy in so many ways.

Expanded gambling could be enacted tomorrow if not for the hypocritical policies emanating out of Frankfort.

...or politicians that espouse the values of personal responsibility but try to force their own moral views on others (all while continuing to cash those racing checks though)

Knucklehank 1 you’ve hit the proverbial nail right on the head TWICE in this thread. Good posting.

They don't necessarily force their views on others on this issue. Many of them, in particular Stumbo, go to casinos and tracks often, but won't vote for it to save their position. That is a hypocrite.

Stumbo hasn't had say in this issue for over three years now. IMHO, one of the biggest roadblocks at the moment is the Senate Majority Leader Thayer, who make a load of money off the horse industry. That's one of the lines you'll hear when expanded gaming comes up is how it will hurt that industry.
