This is one of the hardest games to predict in the long history of Husker openers I've experienced. Honestly, no idea.

Wow really? What do you know about the team that most don't? Redic...

Well, you shouldn't ask the question if you've been around for 9 years.

Pay closer attention, make a prediction and enjoy the threads each game week.

31-20 Huskers. The defensive line sets the tone and the O-line plays better as the game goes on to protect the offense as the new era begins.

Armstrong upsets as many fans as he makes happy. The RBs play well enough to use the lines hard work. On defense the back 7 gets better and feeds off the D-line.

What is tough to predict is what 10 BYU players are suspended for this game and which 5 players are suspended for Nebraska... Rumor has it Rose-Ivy is one of the starters out for us.

I've said we would lose to BYU and beat Miami all summer, my thinking is that BYU has a better team than Miami, I would be more confident knowing who's playing and who's not.

BYU-34
Nebraska-31....... Hope the hell I'm wrong.

I never bet on Nebraska games because I always believe we'll win.

Nebraska scores a TD in the closing seconds to cut the BYU lead to a single point. Husker Nation is on the edge of its collective seat to see if "Reilly" plays for OT or goes for the win in regulation.

Being too nice to do either and clearly lacking the will to win, he orders TA to take a knee. Then he jogs across the field and absolutely nails the congratulatory handshake.

35-10 NU. Capable, motivated players being taught football fundamentals by professionals are going to surprise the hell out of us this year. Add in it is a home game, the suspensions are in our favor, they lost their running back, and Hill will be gimpy by game's end and I think NU rolls.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to take my scarlet-colored glasses off and go mow the lawn.

Bo Pelini yells at a ref....John Papuchis signals.....wait......I need a new schtick. Hmmm.

Tommy Armstrong has a far better than expected game, and completes 61% of his passes for 297 yards and 3 TDs. Terrell Newby fumbles twice, but NU overcomes this to win:

NU: 24
BYU: 17

Bet the under. After the game, Mike Riley retires as the only undefeated coach in NU Football history. Oh, and Bo Pelini still yells at a ref. That's totally not changing.

I really have no idea. One of the toughest Husker games to predict in a long time. Did we have talent under Bo but were poorly coached? Is that same talent ready to finally excel under a real coach? Or is the "upgrade" in coaching mere wishing on our part? Or...are we severely lacking in talent and Riley needs time? Who will be suspended on both teams? Is Hill really recovered? How good is the BYU defense? How improved is Armstrong? How much does a new staff and a transition to a new system hurt us? How "tight" will the new coaches be in their debut with a big time team? **** this is hard to figure. So I go with my red kool aid and say:
NU 37
BYU 31

Depends on which bYu team shows up. The one that beat Texas in Austin by 34 points, or the one that lost to Utah State by 15 at home.

Really, we have no idea what the Huskers are going to be like this year. Coaching upgrade suggests better results, but the first year is rough 90% of the time under a coaching change.

Hoping first-game energy and home field advantage helps against a team that has an obvious advantage with the ball in their hands. I'm going to predict a 35-34 Nebraska win, with as many points coming from the defense as the offense.

RIP Nebraska football.
So, @HuskerTimOmaha , you've become the anti-establishment poster now that your 100% on the Husker Board (no scrolls)?

Would like to hear your opinions/comments on why this defense is going to let an undermanned BYU squad run roughshod over it, and why TA is apparently going to go full Beau Davis (a la Texas Tech 2005) to produce a 49 pt. loss at home.

No scrolls, stick around here for week two.
So, if Bo was still here, what would the score be? 104 to -8?

I have a strong feeling the sunshine pumpers will be out in force come September 6th. I agree this game won't be close, but not the way you are prognosticating it to go down.
