Positives:
- 0 points given up.
- Generating turnovers
- D Line- Especially the DEs are shining.....DDS monster, Zuriah looked very good and the young DEs can really run. Great play by Chaz Coleman....love that we got this stud out of Ohio........
- Luke Reynolds played solid
- the three amigos - Pena, Ross and Hudson showed well
- 200 plus yards rushing a pretty decent Defense who kept minimum of 7 people in the box
- A couple of deep balls...great catch by Ross used to keep the defense a little bit concerned.
- Special teams have been great so far....blocked punt all non blocked FGs have been good. Solid returns....King Mack good at kickoff return and Ross and Pena good at Punt return. Big punts by 99.
- Multiple people played again.....no apparent injuries
- TJ Shanahan played better than in the first game
- Pretty good tackling....although he got there late at times 24 does not miss tackles. Good tackling across the board.....DBs played well.
- Wheatley saved a TD 2 plays in a row with the ankle tackle on the breakout run.......then dislodged the long throw at the very last moment.
- Michigan lost.

Negatives:
- OL played better but still not creasing the DL......
-OL (Shelton) missed a simple DE/DT Stunt where Shelton stayed with the DE and the DT looped behind for a sack on Allar....pretty simple play that was missed.
-Singleton did have some lanes that it seemed as if he missed.....early in career he bounced everything to the outside, he is now staying inside and running hard, but it appeared that he could have cut to the outside for bigger runs but took the safe 4 yard run.
- Allar throws 20 outs better than anyone in college football......he needs to have the same concentration on the 4 yard screen pass.
- Two kickoffs out of bounds is like hitting a nine iron out of bounds, just should not happen....you have 50 yards wide, these cutesy kick in the corner is obsolete with the new rules. Unless you are kicking into a 20 mph wind....blast it down the middle and let the team start on the 25.
- Lack of outside runs.....over reliance on the read option which FIU started to realize is really a delayed draw because Allar was not going to run....rightfully so. If there is no option for the QB to run then stop running the PTO.
- LBs at time slow to react to runs up the middle...... FIU was using C and 2 guards to move our 2 DTS and LBs were slow to fill the holes....a lot of 2nd and 2s for FIU.
- Even with FIU playing close to the line of scrimmage, WRs did not seem to be running free.
- Donkah on OL still looks like the rust is still coming off, perhaps the same with Ford at DT......I expect to see improvement from those 2.

Summary: Got a convincing (score) win against a Team that played better than their reputation. Got to see a lot of young players (Coleman, Harvey, DE 99, Blanding, Dixon, Cousins) and no one appeared to be injured.

The shutout looks nice, but we all realize they could have easily kicked a cpl fgs on numerous possessions, but kudos to the D for coming up big when needed. Not sure if I'm ever going to get on board with the analytics of going for it all over the damn field, at some point common sense has to take over. Receivers are definitely an upgrade from what we had last season, lots of positives to a game that didn't look overly impressive in dominating form for much of it.

Concerned about 99’s slow punting. He’s taking 4 steps. The good teams will block a punt If they don’t get this corrected.

No injuries, workman like performance. Team lacked energy and a mostly veteran team is not competing for jobs so there's that.
Concerning is the following: Singleton lacks elite wiggle and feet to be a first round back. Great kid who works hard. Statistically will be among the best all-time but there are minor limitations apparent. Allen has better instincts and vision but is not elite athletically. I know its nitpicking but one gets a little frustrated watching them run.

Allar is not playing free. Until he forgets mechanics and just plays ball we will continue to see uneven performances on occasion.

OL a work in progress but they will improve as season moves along.

Jim Knowles had better earn his money for this team to reach goals. Not enough explosiveness on offense to win shoot-outs.

NCAA football tied a record once again yesterday. 50% of competing teams suffered defeat. #17,#13 and #12 all lost to unranked opponents.
LSU beat Tech 23-7, Georgia beat Austin Peay 28-6. Ohio State and Oregon rolled ......
What does it all mean? Not much. PSU can't beat Oregon or OSU until they're on the field at the same time and place. Right now, PSU is the underdog in my book.
Everyday some players have a good practice and some have a not so good practice. The !st goal is to get in the tournament. 2nd goal is to get a good seed. Goal 3 win and advance.

Absolutely Playoff is the goal, would have loved to have seen yesterday be a little more lopsided much earlier, but you can't have it all in Paradise. Going to be a fun yr across the board.

I don’t think they want him to risk injury vs this level of opponent.

Allar ran a lot more versus nevada than fiu. The message to Allar heading into fiu was probably along the lines of, “Enough with the running horse-a$$. You’re going to get yourself killed. It’s a long season.”

Some Board thoughts seemed to be getting dismissed with performance this year:
Can Barnes Coach and Recruit DL Players? Many viewed Coach Barnes as someone showing up and putting in previously recruited players...... the play of Chaz, Xavier, Blanding, Harvey etc....... and even the improvement in DDS and Carter last year tells me that we have a solid coach in Barnes.

Still waiting on noticable improvement in WR Play, seeing signs of improvement, but did not see a bunch of free runners yesterday.

Great analysis by Landon T. on the run game....somewhat equal blame across the OL.....missed assignments, a little bit laziness on OL, lack of good decisions from Nick Singleton.

Need to get heads straight on the OL.....Landon outlined numerous plays where guys were running but hit nobody....or two guys left an inside LB free to take on the RB. He did complement the blocking by all of the TEs.

It is a great analysis, but my goodness, how did we take a step back this year? It is a step back and it is puzzling to the point you wonder what the hell they were doing in the off-season. It is just awful technique from much of the OL, and the mistakes that Landon pointed out in week 1 are still there just as badly in week 2. And Singleton himself holds some blame as well as he is just exhibiting very poor vision when the play is there. Landon is correct that this cannot happen against Oregon. He also is correct that it is very fixable, but it’s shocking that it was not fixed versus FIU. Even Allen long td had poor blocking technique, and it was just Allen himself creating the play. Oregon and OSU tackle that one for a minimal gain.
