Positives:
- 0 points given up.
- Generating turnovers
- D Line- Especially the DEs are shining.....DDS monster, Zuriah looked very good and the young DEs can really run. Great play by Chaz Coleman....love that we got this stud out of Ohio........
- Luke Reynolds played solid
- the three amigos - Pena, Ross and Hudson showed well
- 200 plus yards rushing a pretty decent Defense who kept minimum of 7 people in the box
- A couple of deep balls...great catch by Ross used to keep the defense a little bit concerned.
- Special teams have been great so far....blocked punt all non blocked FGs have been good. Solid returns....King Mack good at kickoff return and Ross and Pena good at Punt return. Big punts by 99.
- Multiple people played again.....no apparent injuries
- TJ Shanahan played better than in the first game
- Pretty good tackling....although he got there late at times 24 does not miss tackles. Good tackling across the board.....DBs played well.
- Wheatley saved a TD 2 plays in a row with the ankle tackle on the breakout run.......then dislodged the long throw at the very last moment.
- Michigan lost.
Negatives:
- OL played better but still not creasing the DL......
-OL (Shelton) missed a simple DE/DT Stunt where Shelton stayed with the DE and the DT looped behind for a sack on Allar....pretty simple play that was missed.
-Singleton did have some lanes that it seemed as if he missed.....early in career he bounced everything to the outside, he is now staying inside and running hard, but it appeared that he could have cut to the outside for bigger runs but took the safe 4 yard run.
- Allar throws 20 outs better than anyone in college football......he needs to have the same concentration on the 4 yard screen pass.
- Two kickoffs out of bounds is like hitting a nine iron out of bounds, just should not happen....you have 50 yards wide, these cutesy kick in the corner is obsolete with the new rules. Unless you are kicking into a 20 mph wind....blast it down the middle and let the team start on the 25.
- Lack of outside runs.....over reliance on the read option which FIU started to realize is really a delayed draw because Allar was not going to run....rightfully so. If there is no option for the QB to run then stop running the PTO.
- LBs at time slow to react to runs up the middle...... FIU was using C and 2 guards to move our 2 DTS and LBs were slow to fill the holes....a lot of 2nd and 2s for FIU.
- Even with FIU playing close to the line of scrimmage, WRs did not seem to be running free.
- Donkah on OL still looks like the rust is still coming off, perhaps the same with Ford at DT......I expect to see improvement from those 2.
Summary: Got a convincing (score) win against a Team that played better than their reputation. Got to see a lot of young players (Coleman, Harvey, DE 99, Blanding, Dixon, Cousins) and no one appeared to be injured.
