Hi all,

I usually buy a pass to yellow or pay cash (didn't grab pass this year...was working well up until today) but the passes are pricey for tonight ..

Coming from work and don't feel like stopping at the ATM if I can help it....

Can you pay with a card for the regular cash lot? I think the kids have hand held credit card machines but not sure ...does anyone know?

I would recommend paying with a card. If you pay cash ask for a receipt. If they don’t print a receipt there is no guarantee the money gets to Rutgers.

That a big accusation, attendants helping themselves to a five finger discount of your cash?

What a loser post
Why? For a school that is always asking for money, it would be good to guarantee the money gets to the school. When you pay with card or cash they enter it into the phone that prints a receipt. At the end of the night the cash and card charges they enter need to match the money they hand in. If they don't enter it into the phone and a receipt doesn't print there is no guarantee the money goes back to the school.

I’d be shocked if 💯 cash parking payments don’t get to Rutgers every game.

They ask you to put it on your dash
Oh, so it's an accounting thing for the parking vendor and school? Fair enough. That said, I'm still glad I park in Green and only get stuck behind confused guy and not receipt guy.

All kidding aside, since the string of sell outs started, I do my best to schedule around the games and get there as early as possible.

Because of a few reasons.

1) you’re questioning the honestly of the mainly kids/young adults working the parking lot.

2) even if they pocketed some money, it would not be a lot without it being questioned

3) you stand out there if you want to be in the cold

4) who the hell asks for a receipt to pay parking to a sporting event

5) I went down to the Miami game and parking was free

Exactly. It's for accounting purposes. Anyone that worked retail understands that the drawer needs to match what is entered into the register at the end of the shift.

I am now getting there 30 minutes before tip to avoid any traffic issues.

Honestly, if you are able to do that, it's really not that bad getting in. It looks like crap when you first arrive on Sutton's Lane, but it moves.

I had no problem parking and got there pretty late. Got tix last minute and had no pass. Should have just ducked into overflow right off the bat instead of wasting time doing a loop of the main lot. I know spots open from students leaving but the walk is the same. Lot folks did a pretty good job for a sell out.

I disagree with number 2. "Pocketing some money" as you put it is stealing. I pay the $20 to go the the school, not into his pocket.

You sound like a real fun guy.

Listen if he pockets $300 at the end of the night I get your point. If he takes a $20 tip for himself for sitting out in the cold for 2 hours. Who the hell cares. But as others have said they give you a thing in your car which is like a receipt so if there’s any “theft” it’s probably minuscule

I buy my pass before the games. Yeah, there's a stupid surcharge (should be a discount) but they just scan it and I pull in. I don't recall them giving me anything to put on my dash.

3 questions on parking….

1) How/where can you buy a pass in advance?

2) How far walking are the cash lots?

3) Are there any free lots?

1- don’t need to. It’s not like football.
2- not far
3 - yes. Anywhere on Livingston except the APC deck and the “two” RAC lots.

If I was in college:
Step 1 - Buy a reflective vest.
Step 2 - Put on Rutgers baseball cap and vest
Step 3- Start just down the road from the actual parking attendant and charge $20 per car.
Step 4- Buy keg/friends.
