Anyone defending this season is a pure idiot. It’s easily the worst of the series. Made even more of a joke that it took two years to make. Just like with the NK, the big bad Cersei who everyone has waited for to die for years is killed basically standing with Jamie waiting for everything to fall on them and kill them. Jesus what a horrible way to kill her, Jamie too.

Seriously, how in the hell do you take two years to film 6 episodes and make it feel like you rushed through writing and filming it in just a couple months? In ALL the other seasons, nearly every single death had meaning behind it. You felt it. These last 3 episodes they’ve basically just lined up main characters one by one in front of the firing squad killing them off quickly and without hardly any meaning or emotion behind it.

The most “moved” I’ve been of any death was the Hounds and Jorahs. The rest were rushed and cheap and many of those characters deserved better. Especially the NK, Jamie, Varys, Cersei.

But whatever, fanboys will say “well nobody would be happy with any way they did it.” That’s crap. This has been a masterpiece of a show for 7 seasons. They could have easily gotten this right and in a way people would have liked it or atleast been okay with it. But it’s like they’ve gone out of their way to screw it up and make people dislike it.

Pretty sure the message is ppl dont really change who they are. Every character that died did bc of that. What's predictable would be giving every main character a huge elaborate death scene.

This season is awesome. Zaytoven is just a baby the show didn’t do what he wanted it to.
Seriously? This episode is rated the worst in GOT history on Rotten Tomatoes. Second worst episode? A season 5 episode with last weeks episode being just a couple points off from second worst ever. Episode 3 of this season is also one of the worst rated in their history as well. Season 8 as a whole is easily the worst rated season all together. The audience score being at 54% for the season.

Why it sucks has nothing to do with what I wanted. I didn’t have any special wishes for this season. The closest I came to wanting something was for the walkers and the NK to be in the entire season and make it until the final episode and for them to actually explain what he wants. I was fine with whatever fate the NK got as long as I got that above. I got none of that. Brans ******** about him wanting people to forget everything was a load of crap from writers who had no clue what to do.

But as for all the rest of the characters, I had no feelings one way or another. I just wanted to see the awesomeness that I had loved the previous seven seasons. lol what we’ve got isn’t anything close to that. It’s just a bunch of rushed garbage tying up as many loose ends as possible in the most generic ways while leaving some of the biggest questions unanswered.

I mean come on, this was basically an hour of Dany just flying around burning ****. There was hardly any substance behind any of the parts that should have had it.

The simple fact that a lot of the actors themselves haven’t been happy with how this season went should be enough to tell you it’s probably a pile of ****.

On Rotten Tomatoes every episode of season 1-7 has a rating of 90-100% fresh except for just a couple in the 80’s and one in the 50’s.
Season 8 has had more episode rated “rotten” than the entire first 7 seasons combined. Given how this season has been written I expect the finale to get more bad reviews.

Biggest drop off in a shows final season in tv history IMO.

Yes it is. They’ve said many times that they can only afford so many big battles in a season.

In an interview published before the final premiere, D&D made it clear that they were the ones insisting on stopping at eight seasons and limiting the last two to a total of 13 episodes. “[HBO] said, ‘We’ll give you the resources to make this what it needs to be,’” Weiss said. Benioff added, “HBO would have been happy for the show to keep going, to have more episodes in the final season.” But the showrunners refused. “We always believed it was about 73 hours, and it will be roughly that,” Benioff continued. “As much as they wanted more, they understood that this is where the story ends.”

Dumb & Dumber just got tired of doing the show. Had this and last season been 10 episodes it might have ended better. But then again it would still have the same two idiots running it.

Btw the actor who plays Barriston Selmy said Martin already has the last two books written but made a deal with hbo not to publish until the show was over.

I’m not a reader. I hate reading. Atleast with books, I can read online all day though. I had considered reading the books but now I don’t know if I will.

He does not have the books written or the show would be better. Given the reaction the show is getting he won't write the books. This is just going to be a very disappointing ending to something that was really cool to start.

I thought it was a good show, but now that a bunch of squeaky-wheel dorks have rated it poorly on Rotten Tomatoes I guess I was wrong.

Now if you’ll pardon me, I have to go force myself to vomit up last night’s meal because I just read on Yelp that people don’t care for the restaurant I enjoyed yesterday.

I really liked the Mad Queen story. And how they showed the perspective of the agony/suffering of the innocent common folks.

But I really hate what they did to Jamie’s character. Huge disappointment. And Bran, the arc of his story was basically complete at the end of last season. Literally the most magical person on the planet and did absolutely nothing whatsoever in the entire final season.

And even though the final book will never be written....if it ever happens, you can guarantee that’s Dany’s heel turn and burning of King’s Landing will be in there.

Ceresi’s death was unsatisfying, that’s hard not to agree with. But I thought it ended up being a good scene with really good acting by the woman who portrays her.

Sopranos final season was considered by many a trash ending as well.

It’s television, and it’s been fine, who cares what rotten tomatoes says.

You still have Jon, Sansa, Brann, Tyrion, Brienne, Dany, Bronn, Arya and Gendry to sort out.

Not really sure what you expected after they cut off Grey Worm’s girls head! Dany wasn’t going to be fine with doing things fair, and the people couldn’t handle another battle. Enter a dragon destroying the city.

As far as Arya and the face taking, that was how she got Walter Fray and his people which was a damn big deal.

The way dany's head started shaking right before she went off made me wonder if Bran hadn't warged into her. You really never know what that dude is capable of or wants since all he does is deny he's Bran. Maybe Sansa convinced Bran to do it as a way to keep Jon from staying there??

You know Dany is going to openly try Jon by fire for treason and have some Draconus roast his ***... as he is the only threat to her throne.

Of course he uses his Targeryan superpowers to stay unscathed and prove to the good folks of Westeros that his story is true and the rightful heir. Dany flips out and somehow the wildlings and Brienne save the day.

They ain’t dead. Powdery and bloody, they emerge from a pile of bricks.

Bronn shoots Jaime as soon as he dusts off.

Things I hate:
  1. Killing off two dragons in absolutely stupid ways to save on the CGI budget only to have the remaining one be the most powerful being that has ever existed. Stupid.
  2. Spending four (five? seven?) seasons redeeming Jaime only to have him break bad at the very last minute for literally no good reason.
  3. Euron Greyjoy being a putz. A putz without a damn eye patch.
  4. Tyrion becoming easily the stupidest character in the show.
  5. Most importantly, Dany using the dragon to destroy Cersei's entire forces without any more than coincidental innocent casualties and then (FOR NO DAMN REASON) still deciding to nuke the city. All she had to do was the fly the big bastard up to the Red Keep and reduce it to dust... but no, let's just ignore seven seasons of character building. *****.
Hopefully Jon Snow kills Dany next episode and Tyrion gets his wits back with some drinking and whoring so he can rule. Or whatever. I clearly care more about a satisfying ending to this **** than the writers.

There is absolutely no reason that the last two seasons were not 10 episodes and well written. If I ever see Dan and/or Dave, I'm going to kick them in the gonads just for the stupid Wight Quest.

In a vacuum last night's episode was really good, it was shot beautifully, the action was amazing, and the drama was edge of you seat.

BUT when you consider the nearly 10 years of character building and story telling it didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Yep...stupid end to a lot of loose ends. Greyworm going full retard in battle included

They ruined greyworm in general. In the books he Was never this much of a character. Definitely never had a love interest (for obvious reasons). And I think he died with selmy in the alley.

she didnt take her whole army to winterfell.

I don't recall anything being mentioned about her taking less than her whole army. Maybe I just missed it.

If you read the book you'll be even more disappointed...

That's for sure.

Aegon Snow needs to sack up. Yes Donny....I'm the mfking King. Now take your clothes off...cuz I'm about to go Khal Drogo on your ***!

I'm reserving judgment until the final episode, but I agree I think this season could've gone better.

Only thing Bran maybe warged into is the horse that Arya rode out on.

The only enjoyable ending I see is Jon withstanding dragon fire and joining up w Arya, Brienne, Bronn and Tormund and trying to take out Dany. I just don’t know how they get past the dragon?? Bran warging? Idk.

Anyway, I didn’t have a problem w Jamie going back to Cersei. I felt like it was true to his character. He’s a good dude who has this one flaw that he cannot get past. That’s been his story the entire series and it ended up costing him his life.

And people saying Dany “turned” evil last
night . Nah. She’s been evil since Drogo went rawdog on her in season 1. We’ve just looked past it for 9 seasons because we liked her, but she’s been doing evil **** since way back. I wish the season had taken a different direction, but I’m not mad at it. It provided me with edge of my seat entertainment for 90m on a Sunday. Can’t ask for anymore

I love how all the kids who were in remedial reading class have grown into adults who post on message boards about character arcs being destroyed.

Jaime was always self serving. Always. Everything he did had his own motives behind it.

Danerys was always unhinged and had to be tempered by someone - most of who are now dead.

Everything was always cascading to this point.

Zombie Mountain pulling a dagger out of his brain like he was removing a splinter was a real power move right before he got speared through a wall.

A lot of gals that seemed to love Dany seemed to disregard her insanity for like a decade... "But she wanted to build a better world!!" Uhm nope. She was always going to do whatever to get the throne.

I would consider this to be pretty much a perfect summary.

People gave me **** here for saying the Battle of Winterfell wasn’t good because of plot issues. Those issues have obviously continued and I’m glad others are now seeing it. This season is hot garbage plot-wise. Incredibly disappointing.

It’s what happens when you write a Avengers endgame like script...

The show's downfall from a plot perspective began somewhere in the middle of Season 7 but even with the several jarring displays of incompetence within that season, I'm not sure anyone could have predicted how badly it would eventually end.

Props to the cinematography, the music, the production efforts...it has been beautiful television.

All for naught, however, as the writing for the final season of this show will be universally regarded by history as an abject failure of the grandest proportions. A cautionary tale for future writers who are tempted to fly too close to the sun, who succumb to their own arrogance. They destroyed the only arc in the story that really mattered in the middle of the season. They destroyed virtually every character in the story who wasn't lucky enough to have been killed before source material ran out.

I'm not going to sit here and write out some fanfic that could have been better, the internet has been churning plenty of that out for months.

This was objectively bad writing and if you disagree, you are wrong. And you are awful.
