These "terrible" episodes y'all are talking about are still better than 90% of TV

There hasn't been anything terrible. Actually, quite entertaining. You have to say, "Well, that was kinda rushed" or "How'd that possibly happen?" a few times, but thoroughly enjoyable.

I have sneaking suspicion that the series finale is going to have a Lost type vibe to it. I have nothing to back up this claim, just a fear.

I've been wondering about that myself. I have a hunch that they don't want this thing to turn out anything like most people are expecting it to turn out. Like, what if the Night King wins? Or Gendry's the only one left standing with a claim? I dunno. I just don't see them doing a Ross & Rachel, err, Jon & Dany ride off into the sunset together ending.

The series is going to end with the revelation that all of the introductions have been Samwell Tarly minutely inspecting the situations and writing a comprehensive story of the time. (See the intros with all the scopes changing, the astrolabe, etc.)

He will be the author.

I think but don't know that all the dragons die and Westeros is setup for enlightment and a turn toward democracy. Dany may or may no die. Jon lives. The rest is fairly incidental but I think you'll see people like the Hound, Arya, Gendry, Jaime, etc. ready to get to work on see form of civilization.

Cersei and Euron are effed.

It will be an ending set up for the dawn of a new age.

And Dany has the only form of air travel in the world, but they throw hypothermic Jon on a freezing boat and she rides along with him rather than flying back.

Pretty sure she's in love is why she rode the slow boat back home. It's also the only reason she flew there in the first place was to save Jon Snow.

Then why was the night king trying to kill him in the cave? How could he be the night king?
I'm just speculating, but I think that in some weird time travel Terminator-esque type situation that I don't fully understand, he (as the Night King) has to kill himself (as Bran) to keep the Night King from ever coming into existence.

Sansa didn't make a very strong showing when confronted by Ayra. She resorted to complaining "that's what Cersei wants us to do, fight among each other". Ayra wasn't impressed with the idea that Sansa was forced to write the letter. They have work to do if they are ever going to reconcile.

There's going to be a gold medal in the ****** Screenwriting Olympics if Sansa and Arya have been working together to expose Littlefinger this whole time.

I'd lay money on it happening.

Yep- and while it obviously wont happen as soon as the season finale, if early next season there is all of the sudden this "Oops, sorry Baelish- we fooled you!!" moment- then that is pretty much mailing it in from the writers perspective.

Not to say they cant eventually figure it out and expose him- but it would take much more development than what we have already, and if its supposedly already happening- meh.

I bet it happens in the finale this year. It saves them an actor to pay for next season and Littlefinger has been doing jackass nothing this season.

They killed everyone off in last season's final episode to simplify things. I assume they do the same for my man Baelish.

As an aside, the neutering of the smart, interesting characters like Tyrion, Littlefinger, Varys, etc. that make the plot so sublime in favor of focusing on whatever dumb things Dany, Jon, and Cersei are doing is my biggest gripe with the recent plots.

As I read it, Game of Thrones is really just Littlefinger and Varys trying to one up each other on a global scale and all the calamity that ensues.

You guys need to put that stuff under a spoiler tag for those who don't want to know what could happen.

It's getting to where I can't tell and I wanted to say something before it got deeper for those that don't want to know. Just a heads up is all.

You wanna talk about "lazy writing"....let's talk about how the author won't finish the f****** book he's been writing for years and years. If we are complaining about where some zombies got chains and how they walk slow, then I'd say the show must be good bc those are some minor details. Winter has been coming since season 1, so their slow pace is nothing new.

They've butchered Winterfell this season about as badly as they handled Dorne.

Everyone there basically has nothing to do since they're not involved in the battle against the WW's.

So you're mad that a zombie made of ice that and turn other things into ice zombies can throw a spear at a dragon at a high velocity? It's a fantasy tv show, suspend belief in reality and have some fun watching. No need to complain about spears or how people travel so fast.

Saw it discussed elsewhere that Benjin could have been sent to save Jon by Bran. He serves the three eyed raven, he told Bran that it was requested by the 3-eyed raven that he help Bran and Meera get to the wall last season.

I also think there could be some foreshadowing when Jorah tells Jon more or less to have children.

Has it been discussed here about who might have actually sent Sansa the letter requesting her appearance in Kings Landing? Could be Little Finger trying to get Brienne out of Winterfell so he can make a move.

That's a good catch about getting Brienne out of Winterfell. If that's true, it's almost certain that Arya kills Littlefinger.
