I know the Convocation center lots will be available, but that's pretty far west of the stadium. Are any of the lots closer to the stadium that are normally reserved for NIU home games open to the public? Also, any tailgating restrictions?

My only experience was two years ago for the 7a game. We were directed to a specific lot and told it was the closest available. Not true. On the way to the stadium, we walked by numerous spots in closer lots.

Those lots are permit only lots. You would need to gamble that niu finest would not be ticketing.

If there is little or no need for the reserved lots this weekend, why not let the general public use them? Isn't NIU trying to generate goodwill?

My guess is they're trying to conserve resources and just have people park at the Convo. Dedicating staff to guide people in and out of that large parking area at the Convo vs. having staff there plus at the smaller lots near the stadium, which is actually close to some student housing and dealing with cars before game and the traffic mess after games. Not convenient for attendees but seems it would be more efficient and easier to herd traffic down Lincoln/Annie Glidden to the Convo then after the game, back to I-88.

Two years ago I parked at Evans field house, sat on east side of stadium and had no issues fighting traffic

For Huskies games they have shuttle buses from the convocation center lots right to the south side of the stadium.. Surprised they wouldn't do the same for the IHSA games
