Why can't we make 3s like a normal college team?

Collins obviously has a lot of work to do in the offseason. Admissions has been very cooperative with Jackson and Braun for football as they are allowing kids to get in who would not have been admitted in the past. I assume they’re doing the same for basketball. Collins needs to do a much better job constructing the team.

Fake rally. Classic.

If you’re claiming we’ve lowered academic standards, that’s completely false. They allowed winter admission and changed the graduation requirements from 51% NU credits to 50%. That’s it.

Stop acting like you know what you’re talking about when it comes to what they’re doing in admissions for football. You obviously have no idea.

A team is not made in one season; and especially not ours. Are you saying we should just be a portal team and not be a developmental team? Do you think we can outspend other teams?

Disappointed Martinelli didn’t get to 20 but Yates defense slowed him down. Washington looked pretty solid. I hope we can recruit a strong Euro player like Hannes Steinbach for next year.

Uhh yes I do. One of my good buddy’s is a $100,000+ donor and has a direct line to Jackson.

Do you really think there are zero teams we can outspend? Thats such a false narrative. Obviously there are several factors contributing to the struggles this year. Gragg killed one full class and that is the main reason we’re so young. Obviously the transfers aren’t contributing as much as the staff thought they would. Sure it’s a developmental program but there’s no reason Collins can’t get the program to a point where it gets old and stays old and we don’t have seasons where we win 2-4 B1G games. This program should be past that. I guarantee you Jackson does not sit there and say to himself “I’m ok with 2 win B1G seasons on occasion”. That’s a losers mentality. I know you hate to put any blame on Collins but he has to shoulder at least a tiny bit of the blame for this season.

Then Jackson isn’t telling him everything. I know for a fact that football is getting kids in that would not have gotten admitted in the recent past. I’m not saying they have completely lowered standards as we all know that won’t happen but admissions is cooperating with them.

Yes. I just told you that. They are allowing winter admission - with the ability, if necessary, to revoke admission if grades fall off before the full term is complete - and the 51% rule being changed to 50% which is why we can now get incoming juniors. That’s all that’s changed.

There’s no way anyone associated with the NU coaching staff or the current AD has a loser’s mentality. We all wish we were something more than we are, but we shall see if academics somehow becomes a non-issue and things can magically change. And yes - I think it’s a false narrative to think we can outspend other schools so so much to the point that great players decide it’s more important than going to the school that gives them a better chance to make the NBA.

You want academics to become a non-issue aka just let anyone in and have no standards? I hope I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying.

There are a few comments here that are like 'oh it's OK, Washington is good '.

No.

UW was 3-7 B1G and 2-6 overall road games coming in. The Cats were slight favorites. They traveled 2k to ILL and played Thurs night (as did the Cats).

Terrible loss.

Did you watch the game? They may not be “good” but they are far more experienced and talented than we are.

I am not sure what people expect when you have 5 Freshman on the team and 3 of them start. Nick is the only guy on our team that would start for them and very few would get minutes!

Wrong. They played a brutal schedule leading up to this and have had numerous injuries. Could you not see the difference in ability?
