After watching the segment on S&C coaches, it’s now obvious that that’s one of the huge problems with the program. We’ve seen the effects on the field, but now I see why we have problems off the field. With Moorhead being soft on the players and us not investing in an experienced top-notch S&C coach, we have so many players with violation of team rules and bad attitudes.

Totally pissed me off. Are our savant(s) coach and "AD" the only people in D1 sports who don't get this ?

Your S&C program is only as strong as your head coach. Most kids aren’t self starters in the weight room. If they know they can slack with out consequences they will.

Don’t be silly. Brian and Joel say that’s ludicrous to criticize our S&C program because our guys look ripped.

I'm still pissed that we pay $100K when Louisiana Lafayette pays theirs $250K.
We are supposed to be an SEC program. There is very little to reflect that these days.

You get what you pay for. We're the only team in the country that has a 330 lbs, not muscle, s&c coach. Blows my mind, but that's Cohen doing his best Lonnie impersonation.

Very good segment that really showed the high value of a S&C coach. Paraphrasing, a new head coach’s first hire should be the strength coach. That coach is closer to the players than any other on staff. He is the enforcer, counselor, and the one players who graduate come back to see years later. I have no clue about our strength coach and what goes on behind the scenes, but if one buys into this ESPN segment it obviously should be someone that is sought after with no salary constraints. From what very little I now, MSU probably has a failing grade with its approach to that position.

None of what was said today was should be new to us. Dan said in his first press conference the S&C coach was going to be his first and most important hire. That was the expectations at MSU, but for some reason Joe and/or Cohen don't think it's that important.
