You're not going to buy season tickets because our opening game is during the day? Awesome logic.

Would I rather have a 6pm start? Of course, but its the opening game, I can deal with 230, just bring in a couple extra beers to my seat. I'm certainly not forsaking MSU college football because we have a day game.

after year. I'm not at all a fan of the tv deal seeing that those of us actually going to the game have to suffer in the heat while the 48 people actually viewing State/JSU on tv can sit in the shade. THAT'S the logic I don't get. If LSU were playing at home Sept 5 do you think they'd be playing at 2:30? It's gonna happen every year.</p>

If we weren't in the SEC or if the SEC didn't do the deal with ESPN the Ath Dept could still set gametimes to whatever we wanted. But our athletic budget would shrink by roughly 25-30%, though you wouldn't have to sweat during football games so it's definitely worth it.

My God, can someone make a comment that 2:30 sucks in comparison to a night game without getting lectured on the economics of being on tv? Who knows if it will have an impact on future ticket sales and such? But there will be those reevaluating whether to buy and keep going to games when you can sit at home and watch a JSU game in Sept, at 2:30 on tv. That's all I'm saying, geez.

the only reason there will be this week is b/c there is no CBS game.

afterwards. You get good time to booze both before and after the game. Yes, it's hot, but it's not any cooler at 4pm.

It will be hot as hell but it should provide a good afternoon of football and a better night of tailgating. At least it isn't a LT 11:30 start.

The 6:00 starts will be nice. The later the better. I wouldn't mind a few 8 or 8:30 starts.

In my case the 2:30 game works out ok for me. I don't drink or party so, I can leave my house in Brandon around 10:30 A.M or so and take my time getting there and be home no later then 8:00 p.m and watch some late games on the tube.

As far as the heat goes, it's never a issue. I was in the Marine Corp and been in some pretty ****** places that was hot.

with the new deal, we're going to have more night games than we used to. i'm sure we'll still get some JP early bird specials, too.

what i am wondering is what espn has on the nights of the auburn and vandy games. i would've thought that early intraconference games like those would have at least warranted deuce coverage. at least, this year, they'll be on tv. under the old deal, those were probably non-televised games.

You are the only one that has mentioned not getting tickets as a result of said time slot. I doubt most people only go to the games because they can't see it on TV. We have had televised games before in various time slots and people still show up.

i apparently can ***** about anything and everything.

i just like the later games much better. the gameday atmosphere is better, tailgate longer, cook more food, hang out long with folks that you may not see but a few times a year or less, etc. i even like the games to be at night when it is cold out. doesn't matter to me.

hell, i would be sweating under a tent next to a fire pit anyways. i would just rather be able to tailgate longer.

the going out aspect after the game isn't something that i really care that much about as i get older. i usually sit and tailgate for a while longer anyways.

it's still daylight after the games. And nightgames suck for anyone who has a decent distance to drive afterwards. To me, around 3pm is a great compromise. Plenty of time both before and after the game to tailgate. 4pm may be ideal, but 2:30 is pretty close. Anything beats the 11am games we lived on for years.

bloody mary's and screwdrivers don't sit well when yelling at our team as they lose.

and i do tailgate afterwards but it just isn't the same. don't get me wrong i still have fun but the atmosphere is being torn down rather than being built.

either way, i would still go to every game regardless of the time if i lived close enough. 12 hour drive = spending the night regardless of game time. so for me, a night game is the best option.
