Take mark sears off of bama when he was there and tell me how you think oats season would go. Or take philon off last years team. Just take the starting pg off any team he’s had.
Exactly, Pope still has a similar record in the SEC as Oats first couple of years so far. All of the other records are apples to oranges because of the different conferences and level of competition.

Now, that being said, because we are UK and not Alabama, Pope needs to show a marked improvement this year or, it will be time to move on.

I agree. Injuries can only be an excuse for so long. If the same trend continues this year then J Batt has to start looking into moving on and what options are out there. I personally love this roster and think we are going to be very good.

Wasn't Pope supposed to be an analytics guy and that was the reason for all his insane sub patterns
I’m not really sure Brandon Garrison is the number 1 guy to take him on his word about popes coaching style.

no matter what the revisionist history and the last Santa Clara gane but Brandon garrison disappointed me many of times and made plenty of unforced errors that he can’t blame on coaching

Oats doesn't seem to do much offensively with the Center position? I always felt like he basically just wanted rebounding and whatever defense he could get from his Center. Oats "3 or layup" philosophy also doesn't seem to rely on post-up scoring and instead expects to get scoring from his Center on lobs and offensive rebounding put-backs. If Garrison is committed I think he can probably give Oats what he wants at that spot, but I would guess Garrison envisions a bigger offensive role.

The Nancies on this board are like a passenger who whines and bitches the whole way on a road trip and then when you arrive they act like they are responsible for getting everyone to the destination. The trip will be the trip. We all have to take it. You just wish they would shut their pie holes while it was taking place. They add nothing. They just detract. But they think they are the ones who understand how to get from here to there and we would not make it without them. They are wrong.
Truly profound stuff. A man logs onto a message board, writes a long post on the page complaining about people who complain, and concludes the complainers "add nothing."

Wonder if fans will boo pope this year? It could happen vs Louisville! Especially if cards win by 20
There were boos during a UK home game after the Gonzaga disaster. I was there and heard them (and contributed). I later watched on TV and you could hear them. It was one of those games that was shortly after getting whipped by the Zags. We were significantly behind very early and came back to win. They will be louder this year if the same pattern follows.

Garrison would have been back but he was sent packing is my opinion. Did he really leave to find a coach that would yell at him or was he not retained by Kentucky?

Brandon Garrison was something along the lines of an immature 💩while playing for UK, but maybe he has matured a great deal since leaving Lexington. Color me skeptical but open to being proven wrong. One way or the other, time will tell eh?
