That is shocking, shocking I say, that Gary Danielson would bow at the throne of Saban and back up his ridiculous claim. Who could have ever seen that coming?

Ironic, didn't Saban run the hurry up offense in the first series to jump out ahead of us in our game with Alabama last year?

What is wrong with these people? Heaven forbid that we all don't have a 5* recruit at every defensive position. This whole situation makes me wish that we would run more "no huddle, hurry up" stuff just to piss these guys off. This whole situation is a ridiculous argument from a coach that has way to much influence and power.

Well if you remember we tried several times to run the up tempo hurry up stuff last year after Mullen went out and watched some sessions at Oregon. The only problem was we were absolutely terrible at it so we quit.

I don't think My Dark Lord really cares as much...

about the "hurry-up/spread" as much as he is letting on... I tend to think he might just be trying to deflect attention to himself and, thus, away from the team...

just a theory... but I don't really think he cares what other teams do...

Note to Gary Danielson:

The reason that you can't keep up with who is playing isn't because of the fast-paced offenses, it's because you're an incompetent tool.

What it is, people are playing trick ‘em football... they’re trying to trick you, they have an advantage.
Isn't that kinda the point? You're trying to create mismatches and confusion for the defense. If it works to your advantage (and therefore the defense's disadvantage), then good on you.

How about the unfairness of college recruiting that the little man is benefiting from as a result of the winning tradition established by the Bear, Stallings, etc. How bout a college draft or something to make things fair? That would be about as far fetched. He claims risk of injury to players but there is 11 guys on the other side of the ball as well. Ridiculous.

I think he is bitching about a system that has been developed that is effective in neutralizing superior defensive talent. 17 him.

Here is the problem with lil nicky's plan.....

To change the rules to mandate time for the defense to substitute would fundamentally change the game due to the historical but quirky rule in football that results in the game clock continuously running while the game is not being played. A rule change to require time for defensive substitution would change things in potentially 2 ways: 1) It would introduce the concept of the defense being able to kill the clock in a limited capacity to what the offense does now. For example, say the D is allowed 10 seconds to get defensive subs in the game. If a play ends in bounds with the less than 10 seconds & the offense is out of TOs the game would be over. or, 2)Would necessitate a rule change to stop the clock after every single play for substitutions. Even if you restarted the clock after subs it would still lengthen the game significantly and essentially give the offense additional time to work with.

The game is evolving & the cavemen don't like...

..reminds me of all the ignorant grievances made by caveman coaches & reporters over the last 130 years:

1) 1915 = "All gentlemen of breeding concur: The forward pass is an affront to college football's organizational acumen."

2) 1965 = "Influx of colored players going to ruin the game."

3) 1970 = "This dadgum wishbone formation is going to sully the game."

4) 1978 = "All this goshdern passing cheapens the game."

5) 1990 = "This new West Coast gunslinger offense takes away from the game."

6) 1999 = "Joe Lee Dunn's jailbreak defense is a joke, going to destroy college football as we know it."

.7) 2002 = "This spread offense mess is just going to taint the game."

8) 2012 = "Please cut out this hurry up offense. It just makes us all look bad."

The same idiots have been singing the same song for over a century.

No way, guy......

Alabama didn't put Ole Miss away as easily as they would have liked. Maybe it's just an amazing coincidence that he came out with these comments the week after he played that game, maybe not.

The fact that he's complaining about it tells me that Saban is getting a tad complacent. It's just human nature, he can't maintain that intensity forever. Typically he should be out studying how to stop a hurry up offense, or trying to install one himself.

Shocker.....

....Gary Danielson is the SEC's *****, and we know who runs the SEC. He has shown over and over that he is at the mercy of the complainers out there. He's not a good commentator either. He clearly has agendas during games.

Michigan doesn't run a hurry up or a spread.....

....probably one big reason why they suck right now, considering their personnel.

It hasn't done a very good job of it against real defenses. Big 12 defenses suck. West Virginia is a perfect fit for that conference.

I've thought about that too......

The offensive team is moving just as fast as the defensive players. Although I realize the defense is chasing so there's more pressure on them.

What's going to happen, is that we're going to see major changes in the way we condition football players.

Brings to memory to myself that the only time we ever looked like an offense when Coach Croom was here was the one, I think, time we ran a hurry up offense. I think it was one series against Auburn.

so, how do you think a Bama v WV or Bama v Oregon game would go?

I'm certain they'd hit some homeruns, but they'd also have more 3 & outs than usual...

I think it'd be close for a half then the pendulem (sp) would swing in the late 3rd... not too disimilar (sp) to most Bama games...

I think Bama would grind the clock vs those defenses and keep the "hurry-up" off the field...

FWIW - I would love to get either in a NCG,although I believe OR would be more a threat than WV...

thoughts?

Pollock was on one of the 458 college football shows

Talking about how awesome WV offense is (which I do agree), but then he goes on to say something to the effect that they put up 400 yds against LSU last year.....I was like, yeah didn't they get beat like 40 points and LSU game them 2 late TDs.

I don't like Pollock or Jesse. I swear they look so gay.

Oregon would be a touch matchup.....

Alabama would throttle West Virginia in my mind, but maybe not. They did beat the hell out of Texas after all.

Oregon has some talent plus a spread/hurry offense. They are improved athletically from 2010. Just a more 'mature' program. That's the type of hurry up that would hurt Saban. And I personally don't think Alabama has that immortal nature to it this year. I have seen a good pass rush yet, so how do I know that they would break up the spread and create turnovers vs. Oregon or West Virginia.

I agree, Bama vs. Oregon would be a great matchup: Southern talent vs. West Coast talent in contrasting styles.

First thought ... ever take spelling in school?

Second ... I think Oregon would give you a tougher game than WV, but WV's quarterback can and usually is pretty explosive. Who was it that beat Oregon a couple years ago? Auburn? Alabama is better than Auburn was, even then, and Oregon is not as good now as they were then, in my opinion. Bama would win either game handily.

thanks for the spelling critique...

although, it was more laziness than a lack of education or ignorance on my part...

I'll pay better attention in the future... also, I agree with your assessment...

He's one of the worst and I can't stand his whining tone. Along with boss hawg Verne they are pretty intolerable.

You're quite welcome.

So will Bama give Missouri a proper welcome to the SEC this weekend? I'd just as soon they not win a single game this first year.

I love Bama, but sometimes it's painful to watch them... I expect the same this weekend...

McCarron 15-26 215 yds, 1 TD, 0 INTs
Bama will run 40 times for 230 yds and have the ball 38 minutes...

Tide 37 Mizzou 10.... or something like that...

Mizzou should be favored over Kats at home, I'd think... otherwise, they go OleMissfer8...
