If NG varsity football folds....it's a bigger indictment on the neighboring High Schools that are known recruiters and lure players away from a sport that has already had to endure the helicoptor mom and dads/involved uncles, concussions, county and state officials piling up more rules and covid trying to bury it.
People will act surprised and sympathetic to the situation.... but most are involved in it.

Who is next? Bessemer City, East Gaston? Which schools routinely take players from those schools? How about those recruiting schools just get your kids better at football and stop trying to outsource talent? If being the starting LB, DL or RB on a 4-8 team isn't good enough... maybe as one of the lead players relied upon it's you and not the rest of them that is the issue?

I couldn’t tell you anybody that I know of or heard getting a NoGa transfer. A few years back, I think a OL ended up at Ashbrook. But that’s the only one I recall. When that one coach was there, the one that left for another state, whose name escapes me…he had a couple awesome athletes. Think I saw one plays for ECU.

Let em fold…. Big Red Machine will keep rolling and they havent put up a fight in 2 decades. Who cares…. All well miss is an easy win.

It is hard to make a determination on the outcome of this game due to the historical insignificance. Since the St. Cramer boys can only demonstrate their interpretation of the game outcome through abstract dance... and this is a digital medium, that is just no good. I will examine the game as best I can.
You've all seen it, so play along.
Its the Scarface scene where Tony Montana sees sweet Gina in a sparkly rainbow-colored dress being manhandled by some greaseball playboy named Fernando. Tony is none too happy. After a few spins on the dance floor of the discotheque the young couple adjourns to what Tony unlovingly calls "the toilet". Montana sees RED and makes a beeline for can. There he busts into a crapper and finds the young maiden Gina with the greaseball's PAWS all over her. Quickly Tony springs into action and smacks Fernando around. He soon addresses Gina's disrespect. He lays the law down and everybody within 30 foot of that nose candy toilet knows who the boss is.
I think it's fairly obvious that art parallels real life here. SC is Gina, and she gets smacked around. Shelby is Fernando....maybe he got a couple cheap gropes on Gina but soon he is made to scurry out of the club and get into his 1974 Buick Riveria with one missing hubcap and 1/8th a tank of gas. Tony Montana? You guessed it. Tony Montana is represented in this sequence by the SP Red Raiders. Just going into ya-yo fueled, dimly lit surroundings and smacking around those who don't know their place. EL JEFE MF!!!!

Shelby didn’t want no more. A very mediocre sp team last beat them. Every so team since then was markedly better than that last team that beat Shelby.

I talk about the game because amidst the recruiting nature of HS football there seems to be just one good game per week. Hopefully this is the “good” one. An intelligent person wouldn't make that decision. But Shelby's population has steadily grown and enrollment dropped. So maybe someone isn't intelligent enough to recognize they are losing funding as someone suggested.

The problem is more of the way the school lines never changed much from when there was 3 school systems in the county. The areas that had housing growth were still outside of the Shelby city limits and going to original Cleveland County school system feeder schools verses orginal Shelby School sysytem schools. Until recently, they are starting to build more in the town. Old money controlled land in Shelby and and thats why there was no real growth the same as Hickory had in the same time period, but the controllers are dieing off.
