there is a friend of mine's brother by the Reservoir who will fix your broken speedometer or other gauges. I drove around with mine broken for 3 years because I didn't feel like paying $500 to replace my cluster that the dealer charges. He figured out how to do it himself b/c of the same reason and fixed mine a few weeks ago. I think if you are under 75,000 miles - GM will replace your cluster only on full size (Silverado, Tahoe, etc) for $100 b/c there has been a recall but I have an Envoy.

Anyway - if you have the problem - he did a great job on mine.

I gladly gave him $100 without thinking when the estimate from the dealer was $465.

Trailblazer speedometer goes on the fritz once every few months. It always fixes itself. I know it's just a matter of time before it to goes FUBAR for good.

everyone of your gauges has a motor that will eventually all go bad. Ridiculous GM wouldn't fix other models besides the full size models.

you can buy six clusters from ebay with instructions....takes about 20 minutes....you need a soldering iron though.

pretty simple

I got a GMC truck that did the same thing. I have driven around now for 2 years with no speedometer or gas guage. My wife kept saying I was going to run out of gas. I told her no. I can calculate mileage with the trip meter and besides the low fuel warning light still worked. Well guess what....I had the whole family in the truck. I knew I was due for gas because of mileage but the warning light wasn't on. POS ran out of gas. Wife..."told ya so.". So after looking and looking at the gauge repair websites....Im finally going to repair mine. Got the instrument panel out yesterday. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

A buddy manages a city fleet...he says the GMCs, Pontiacs, and Buicks....they always fall apart the fastest. Windows motors stop working, guages, seat motors, etc.

The gauge cluster went at 84,000 miles. I got a recall letter, almost on cue, about two weeks later. It said that it was only good for 75,000 miles. I called GM, and actually got some VP on the phone due to some vehement complaining. After some discussion, they agreed to fix for $200 after I noted that it showed no confidence on their part that they only expected an integral part of their vehicles to work for 75,000 miles. Told him that my wife had one of the worst British cars ever manufactured, a 73 Triumph TR6 in our driveway, and even its speedometer still worked. My new gauge cluster still works.

Within the past 6 months, the passenger side window motor stopped working. My driver seat controls now work in the opposite directions (you push back to move forward) the seat heaters dont work, unless they cut themselves on with no warning on the high setting and burn my *** up. And the temp guage on the mirror somtimes shows some kind of Chinese heiroglyphics from time to time.

And these bastards wonder why people buy Toyotas. Hell even Hyundai backs their **** with a 100,000 mile warranty.

hasn't ever worked, and my normal repair shop made it seem like it was a big undertaking to fix it. I do the mileage game, too with only a few close calls so far. The worst electrical problem I've had was when the passenger seat heater went on by itself and melted the seat.

and still has their heads up their corporate asses. We have a 2003 Trailblazer still in excellent shape. Every couple of weeks the dashboard would go completely bananas, warning alarms, gages swinging back and forth, going out, everything. We had to pay a dealer about $300 to replace the dash. Works fine now. The guy at the counter said he didn't know anything about a recall or any class problems, but quoted us the replacement price without having to look it up. The internet did show me a few people that said they could fix it cheaper, but all of the were a couple of hundred miles away from the Swamp and I could see all kinds of problems if the first try didn't work.

after my parents had a similarexperience with oneof the GM SUVs (I don't remember what it was theyhad, but it was constant problems from day one). When my wife & I started looking for a new car,we looked at almost every brand available in Tupelo except GM. Almost 3 years later in a Santa Fe & zero problems --- and that's with my wife driving it. She's 10x harder onit than my parents would ever be.

my speedometer went out at about 80K miles back in 09. Dealer told me $250 to fix it. I asked if it would still drive without it. He said hell yeah. Been doing so ever since.

My 'Fuel Used' is always about a gallon off. Example: When I fill up, which I usually do about twice a week, I can put 24 gallons in it says Fuel Used: 21.3 gals.
My wife's Honda is spot on. What gives?
