This has to be one of the best match ups in Round 2. GBN has won 6 in a row after their convincing win over Benet. It's at MC, but my sources tell me both Dean and DustyofSelection are very concerned. How do the teams match up? I agonized over this game in the Edgy Challenge. Giving MC the slight edge at home.

If .... IF ... MC somehow manages to get past GBN, they would host Phillips at

What with all the accusations flying around about players and coaches and whatnot, that’ll be a huge game.

You’ll have to give me a couple days to look into this matchup as I know very little about GBN team other then they are always a tough, well coach team and they play a tough schedule so 3 loses is no big deal.

Early look is that they are an old school, hard nose, run right at you team, much like they were when MC played them in 2012 and 2015. If that’s the case I feel good about MC chances with Jalen Grant (Lawless Award Winner), Lance Swain (Blue Defensive Player of the Year), and Austin Haygood (team leader in tackles) leading the way...and Odeluga when needed. Home field will help as well.

I believe there are a couple of key Phillips starters who began their high school careers at MC
I think just two, one of them, Brian Bruce, if MC still had him next to Jalen Grant....forget about it! Let’s hope we can talk about this game next week, big matchup this Saturday for MC.

Carol Stream.

Crafty!

BTW...this is going to be one helluva game. MC better not be looking ahead. I completely underestimated how good GBN would be this year. They lost some really tough games early against really good playoff teams. I think it helped them learn who they are as a team and focus on what they do well and minimize their weak spots.

I don't have a clear winner in this game so I have to give the slight nod to the home team but this one could go either way.

Does Mt Carmel stream their games? If so where?
I think NFHS & ComCast have first rights on all playoff games and the only way the game can be streamed through their normal streaming service is if the game was not picked up by NFHS & ComCast (and) they would have to pay the IHSA for the streaming license which varies between $250-450. I don't remember the exact amounts but it gets higher each round.

Woof better than nothing. Really want to see this one.
Wasn't too bad on Friday. If you have a decent internet connection, it appears last year's problems aren't happening anymore. At least in my one week experience with NFHS this year.

NFHS was was pretty crappy the entire regular season but so far I have had very little problems in the playoffs (watched 4-5 games, not all in entirety). The Morton v JCA and LA v MS games even had Instant Replay. I did lose my stream once or twice for very short periods.

Yes, I said I think just two. Tyler played well at MC, but MC is just fine with Kenenna Odeluga at RB, Clark would probably be his backup if he was still here. Bruce and Jalen would have made a great combo on the line, but they’re 10-0 with their current line so no tears shed, hope they’re doing well. Let’s hope we can talk more about this next week, until then GO CARAVAN, BEAT PANTHERS!!

I think they got caught got looking ahead last year with SCN and felt that sting for a long time. Playing Phillips would be a fun game but I really think this team is focused on DeKalb and will not be looking past GBN. 2007 a 13-0 #1 MC team lost to a 8-4 GBN team in the Semifinals...Jordan Lynch was the QB on that team, he’ll have them focused. Will be a great game.

I love it, Phillips can’t h

3 scores is a bit much, Because Mount Carmel only beat De La Salle by 1 score. Lord knows they not that good. you got some explaining to do.
Played an off game with 4 starters out resting including Odeluga and Grant. De played a good game. Nothing u can do. Got the W. Maine South, Loyola, Montini, Marist and BR players and fans will contest to how good MC is and their toughness.....I’m gonna put the MC/Phil talk on ice though until possibly next week if the match up happens. Good luck vs. Normal, they are a tough group!

chris I can see you want a story line, or some type of build up before next weeks potential match up. All schools have kids transfer, I’m certain Troy isn’t excited about losing a legit 4 star recruit (Dominic Bass). Great programs are able to essentially reload, and move on without pause...

Admittedly, MC has had some close calls this year. Penalties and turnovers have killed them. They have yet to play a solid game for 4 straight quarters. Hopefully that changes Saturday? If history is any indication....well, we’ll see

What the Panthers have done this year is to be commended. They went from 0-9 last year to getting beat on their home field in the season opener by NV 27-10. It would be easy to get down and not fight but fight is what they did. I’ve always felt a cornered animal is the worst kind to deal with. That is what the Caravan will deal with this weekend.

On paper MC is the better team. There is a reason why they play the game. Should be a good one.

It will be close. MC wins. Does it really matter by what margin? As a fan everyone is looking to the next game with a potential match-up with Phillips. I'm sure the team is focused on this weekend. But I see a possible final with Nazareth Academy if they stay healthy and don't turn the ball over at key points of the next three games.

Kids will mimic what the community feeling is, because its what they'll hear at home and in school. I had college buddies playing at MC back in the mid 90s. I wish MC all the best, but this could easily be a trap game for MC. GBN is scrappy, fast, but not very playoff experienced. I agree favorite is MC, but I would not be surprised to see this game close. The fact that it should be dry and a fast track helps GBN. The DuKane conference does allow D1 talent to participate, so it's not like this is the first and only time GBN will face it.
