Did Gebbia screw us? He could be the starter if Martinez is out. Who knows what he was thinking before he transferred. Scott could have used him today.

Who cares? I'm not a fan of the kid and have no well wishes for him, but he is gone. We ride with whatever team we have going forward.

Ehhhhh...he knew he got beat out. His nonsense about this not being fair and square was obviously wrong. Let him battle at Oregon State.

There’s no guarantee that Gebbia comes in and leads Nebraska to victory. Nebraska very well could have won had they had 0 turnovers, fewer penalties dropped passes.

Or did Lee, or OBrien, or Frost. Had to make sure one of them stayed

From what I heard Gebbia father had a lot of pull on Tristan transferring.. Either he started or he was going to a school that would start him...

Sucks for us but now we just have to move on..

Kid left because he was beat out by AM. Didn't want to work into a starting role here.

Bunch > Gebbia

Yeah, he kind of hurt our depth. We definitely saw why A-Mart is the starter though
All of the reporting during Fall camp, especially the week before Frost announced the starter, indicated a close battle between Gebbia vs. Martinez for #1. This isn't ancient history, you can read the reports from just a few weeks ago. The coaches definitely do not share your opinion. That doesn't mean that Bunch will fail. It looks certain he will get his shot to prove his value.

Frost could’ve pulled a Saban or Sweeney and announced Co-Starters.

I’m ok with how he did it though. He was honest with Gebbia and Gebbia bolted.

Sure would be nice to have another 4* kid who could play QB right about now, wouldn't it? Ain't it funny how Tua and Hurts were Co-#1 QBs until it was too late to transfer and then Tua was #1 by himself? It's almost like they planned it that way.

Best case AM is going to be week-to-week with a sprained knee. Worst case he's done for the year and we're one play away from True Freshman Walk-On Starting Quarterback Matt Masker.

But at least we can bank those good feelings that we left time for Tristan to do what was best for Tristan.

They've both been playing both qb's so I see no problem at all with what they did.

Forget Gebbia, it's a done deal. Wish him well for the work he put in but it is time now for us to have moved on. Agree with him or demonize him, it just ain't gonna change anything at this point.

This is the proper frame of mind to have regarding a player who quit the team.

However, when erasing Gebbia from your mental bank it is unhealthy to embrace the false notion that Bunch > Gebbia.

Winners NEVER Quit...Quitters never win!

"Doing the right thing for yourself"...is just another word for being selfish and you will pay the price in life..In many areas......you can believe it or not....its A FACT.

Very very true.

I understand this… But I think posts that have this slant unfairly give this young man a pass. Here’s what I’m saying, take any other position on the football team… And go to the number two guy in the depth chart at that position. Let’s say that the number two guy has NFL aspirations… And he feels that sitting in the number two spot unfairly restraints and restrict him from a possible NFL career and of course the money that comes with that.

… What would happen if we “allowed“ mentally every player to have the same attitude that this young man had?

. Are we willing to give everybody the same wide berth? I.e.… If you do not get the position you think you deserve… Or the one most beneficial to you… Simply pick up your ball and go to another place…

Would not that players reasoning be just as “understandably self-serving” as this young man’s?

What a complete disaster sports would be… Especially college football.

I think there is more to be said on the subject… Especially concerning sticking it out when things aren’t going your way… And the benefit that life brings you when you have that tenaciousness. I truly think that when you cut and run in anything that you’ve committed to being a football team or you name it… You do your self and your life a disservice.

Just my opinion.

Go Big Red!
