Anyone owns one or has seen one at a tailgate? I am just wondering what you think about them.

A little loud, but not too bad. If you or anyone else wants to rent my Honda EU2000 for a weekend let me know. I wont be at the game this weekend bc I have to go to Mobile Saturday..but I live in Madison so if you're close and want to rent it let's talk. As for buying one...I got a deal on my Honda, but damn it's worth the price. I am now a believer.

We use one at our tailgate every week. It has an "econ" mode that makes it a lot quieter but will still run a TV, satellite, and some lights. It's so much cheaper than the Honda, I think it's a better deal. There are always louder generators than ours around us and we've never gotten a complaint.

I have one

Noise level, not a Honda, but not nearly as loud as the ones that annoy the **** out of you, somewhere inbetween.

I have not tailgated with it, but I have seen them in use.
It will pull a reasonabe load.

Mine needs to go to the shop, guess I left gas in it too long. Drain it if you are not using it.

Think I'll dress it up like a pumpkin for halloween,

I have one but probably wouldn't buy another if I could afford a Honda or Yamaha. About the second time I used mine something burned up in the generator and it would run but not produce electricity. Took it to a service dealer and Generac sent me a brand new one to replace it, 6 weeks later. I had since bought a Honda and have yet to put oil in the Generac. Its just a Chinese generator with the Generac name on it. Oh, Its no where near as quite as a Honda either!

Get a Honda. It's worth it.

We started with a 1000i. Now we have it and a 2000i. We run the DTV box, a Vizio, an HD antenna, crockpots, fans, lights, phone charger, baby bottle warmers, coffee maker, you name it. I don't know if you're supposed to or not, but we plug a surge protector in and run multiple items off the 2000i. Haven't had any problems. Plus, you can have a normal voice volume conversation right next to both of them, and they are good to have around when the power goes out at your house, too. And they are small, so they don't take up a bunch of room when loading up to go to the tailgate.

I do see that they have gone up in price since we bought ours. There is a reason for that. They are awesome.

I appreciate the advice from the sixpack. I can't really come off the money for the Honda, so from almost everything I have read about the Generac is its an okay version but nothing to write home about. I have been looking at the Energy Storm Lifan generators, but apparently you cannot just go somewhere and pick it up. Online orders only.

Agreed...........Bought my Honda last year and it's worth every penny...........

Super easy to start and very quiet.......It's worth the extra money, believe me..........And if you think you might want more power down he line you can get the EU Companion and that will boost it up to 4000 watts.....Check out wisesales.com.........They were the cheapest of everywhere I looked and believe me, I did a lot of looking and did a lot of research.........

If you have acces to vechile at tailgate site, you can use a power inverter to power electricial devices. Think you can get a 500W for about 150.00 or a 1500 W for aboit $500. Just remember to crank up every so often, or bring battery charger to run off of one plug on inverter. Its super quite and produces no emissions if you use charger.

I ordered an 125 lb generator last week from Amazon. Singed up for the Amazon Prime 30 day free trial (set not to re-new) and amazon shipped it 2nd day air for free. Almost all the small Chinese generators are 196 cc honda clone engines made by 3 companies in China with varying degrees of quality. If you want to go Chinese get a Champion 3000 for $279 from tractor supply or amazon. Champion services the generators and sells replacement parts here in the USA. 2 year warranty plus 1 additional year if purchased with CC. A lot of of RV users are using the champions and they come highly recommended by the RV community. If you really want to do some reading I can provide you a link with about a 1000 pages about the champion generator and noise suppression modifications on RV.net The Chinese generators are louder than any honda, yamaha or any generator enclosed with a noise suppressing plastic housing.

Can anyone give their opinion on the Honda vs a comparably sized Yamaha generator? Both are expensive. I realize you get what you pay for. Just wondering if the Yamaha is worth a nominally higher price than the Honda...

I've used a new Briggs and Stratton P2000 generator. Great little unit and almost as quiet as a Honda, but at about half the cost. I was impressed.

Under no circumstances, no excuses, no reason ever put ethanol gasoline in anything other than the vehicle you drive every day. Buddy of mine has a honda and he put ethanol gas in it with the ethanol treament and it still gummed it up. I had hell getting my 4 wheeler fixed after ethanol gas with treatment. The little Honda generator is the best grand you will ever spend.
