General discussion of the current ticket market

First this post is not a solicitation to buy or sale tickets, simply to discuss the market of buying/selling tickets to State games.

I have a few extra family members coming in for the game which has led me to be on the "look out" for tickets the last 10 days or so. Through the process I've come to the realization demand must be higher than ever. Even with a marginal addition of seats, it appears that demand is outgrowing supply which has led to the increase of secondary market ticket costs substantially(I'm speaking in terms of the USM game only).

I've never had to consider $80+ for a upper level seat, and never have I ever even thought about $100+ for a lower level seat. But from what I've seen around via message boards, the web, Stubhub(which is a joke right now..check it out), and word of mouth it appears they are going for that easily.

Would you expect these same demands to be proposed by scalpers in and around campus Saturday? Never thought I'd see something like this at MSU, but I guess that comes at a cost for winning. Do you see these same types of issues going forward for other home games this year? Specifically the conference games? Are we now ascending to the level of difficulty of finding a reasonable ticket at places such Tiger Stadium, Bryant Denney, etc.? it's interesting to think about.

Just sold 4 for face value... Maybe I should have asked more.

FYI, there are 4 on craigslist for $30 each.

I don't think you'll necessarily have the same issues throughout the season. There's a ton of excitement with the "new" stadium and first game of the season, plus there's little more interest than your typical nonconference gimme win.
I imagine week 2 tickets will be available well below face value.

I agree. The season is new and the stadium is new. Unless we go undefeated or beat someone we aren't supposed to, I'd expect prices to come down.

i am looking for 3 still and will probably have to scalp them to get my crew in (usm only). the ticket prices are ridiculous for some bad seats on some sites. no more waiting last minute.

I've had 4 people ask if I have extra so far. Usually I get a couple request, and can fill those, but nothing so far.

If we beat LSU, you can expect A&M and Auburn to be sky high. People in front of us paid $100 each for UT game in '12.

Oops, I spent $150 each for 2 20 yd line lower level seats for Auburn on Stubhub. I did this for 2 reasons: 1) I couldn't find any comparable
tickets anywhere else and 2) Stubhub is highly reliable. I received the tickets about 10 days ago.

Good question. I posted my two tickets from one of the least attractive lower level sections (7) at what I thought was an absurd price at $150.00. They sold immediately, and I was and still am shocked.

I was waited to get USA game tickets. $45 last week, $75 this week on stub hub. If anyone was two for a reasonable price I'm interested.

Best way to get tickets for a good price (other than msg board) is to come to the game with cash. Wander around by the ticket office, looking for a fan with tickets to sell (key: not a scalper).

Or find a scalper at kickoff. Lowball him. If you're his last option, your money is better than no money. But you gotta be willing to wait til the last minute.
