Those guys pulled what nil, nfl, nba and mlb have pulled now and for years. PGA players benefited because of liv and now everyone gets paid so much more. So until then enjoy watching exciting guys like cantlay etc.
I don't see it as the same FA that's used in NFL/NBA/etc. They didn't move to another team in the same league, they left it for a rival league. It's more like an MLB player leaving to take a huge contract in Japan, a soccer player leaving the Prem to go to Saudi Arabia, etc.
If I leave my company tomorrow to go to a start-up for a big contract but that company goes bankrupt, I don't get to just suddenly jump back to my former company under the same terms. They've likely already replaced me, and if I want to come back, they'll determine the terms.
There are dozens of guys on the PGA tour more exciting than Cantlay. But if we're playing that game, I guess I'll counter with, why should the PGA Tour change their rules for Talor Gooch to make a return? They left to go to a rival that failed, so why ignore that fact and let them come back and take the place of guys that didn't pull that move? They can earn their way back if they'd like (and I'm sure that's where things will land for most of them).
