I don't really follow recruiting, so this may be common knowledge, but...
When is a school/coach first allowed to contact a potential recruit? I had always though that a school couldn't contact a prospect until July 1 (or some similar date) of their junior year in HS. But I've read a couple of recruiting stories recently and the prospect says something along the lines of "I really like school X. They've been recruiting me since I was a freshman."
Anybody have any ideas?
