If you really looked at MSU from an outsider's view point, I could see where they might not give us much consideration. I meanthe past decade of MSU football hasn't exactly been overrun with championships and bowl wins. So most fans of higher profile teams like Georgia are more concerned with Florida, Bama, and other traditional powers...they don't know the steps MSU has taken to improve (such as recruiting, player development, changes in coaching philosophy, etc).
Imagine if Vanderbilt had pulled off a 9 win season last year, given their history would you give them a high chance of repeating thatsuccessthis year if you knew nothing else about their team other than their record, or would you tell yourself they probably got lucky and it was a fluke?
Hell...even during the Croom years, as bad as we were, I still immediately counted Vandy and Kentucky as W's whenever I saw them on our schedule...even though we weren't good either. There's a certain feeling of superiority/confidence over some teams simply due to their history and nothing else.
Fact is, we sucked for several years before Mullen arrived. Now that he is here and has brought a whole new brand of football and attitude to Starkville, Ibelieve the SEC is about to be shaken up. </p>
