I work in Atlanta and was wondering if anyone else has seen the lack of respect from UGA fans about this years game. Everytime I bring up the fact that we beat them last year they laugh it off and say oh well last year we sucked. Maybe I have maroon colored shades on but I really think we have a decent shot at winning that game or atleast a better shot than most UGA fans think. Anyone else getting this atttitude from UGA fans?

Be it UM and/or State, the fans of UF, Bama, UGA, LSU, Auburn and UT (maybe not so much anymore), they think it is going to be a win. <div>
</div><div>That will be a tough game for us, but I think we have a shot. Hell, I think we have a shot in every game, but that is one of the ones I could see us winning, more so than a W over Bama or LSU. </div>

they couldn't even differentiate between the schools. Hell, when UM beat them a couple of times, I'd wear my State hat and claim the victories. I swear to you, some of them really didn't know the difference.

edit: this was years ago - late 80s, early 90s and pre internet.

I live in Atlanta and on occasion try to converse with some of them about SEC football. It's hard. I had an otherwisevery intelligent person tell me that they would be better in 2009 since Joe Cox would end up being a better QB than Matt Stafford was because he was an upper classman. How do you respond to something like that?

Every year they rally around a great recruiting class, declare themselves the preseason SEC East front runner. By the time they get whipped down in Gainesville they all will start talking about how could they not be better they've had so many good recruiting classes. Then the inevitable Pro-Richt/Anti-Richt talk will clog the airwaves. It's all very predictable.

They may really make a run for a new Coach this year though. They lost AJ Green, Kris Durham, Washaun 'fumblitis' Ealey, have a thin OL, and will be relying on another super hyped recruit at RB (maybe he's good I don't know yet). Murray is legit but their offensive play calling is predictable and really has not changed much since Richt started. Plus I am really not sold on Todd Grantham or them running a 3-4 defense.

UGA fans basically refuse to acknowledge the game last season occurred. They consider entirety of last season to be an aberration for their "prestigious" program. They have the best talent, facilities, tradition, and history in the conference, just ask them.

if anything, they will be worse than last season. They are hanging their hats on a true freshman RB as the savior. </p>

If you really looked at MSU from an outsider's view point, I could see where they might not give us much consideration. I meanthe past decade of MSU football hasn't exactly been overrun with championships and bowl wins. So most fans of higher profile teams like Georgia are more concerned with Florida, Bama, and other traditional powers...they don't know the steps MSU has taken to improve (such as recruiting, player development, changes in coaching philosophy, etc).
Imagine if Vanderbilt had pulled off a 9 win season last year, given their history would you give them a high chance of repeating thatsuccessthis year if you knew nothing else about their team other than their record, or would you tell yourself they probably got lucky and it was a fluke?
Hell...even during the Croom years, as bad as we were, I still immediately counted Vandy and Kentucky as W's whenever I saw them on our schedule...even though we weren't good either. There's a certain feeling of superiority/confidence over some teams simply due to their history and nothing else.
Fact is, we sucked for several years before Mullen arrived. Now that he is here and has brought a whole new brand of football and attitude to Starkville, Ibelieve the SEC is about to be shaken up. </p>

..think Ole Miss fans under the constant influence of Peyote & you have Georgia fans.
I know several Georgia fans, male and female. I have long believed that they are the closest thing the East has to the often delusional OM fan base. Often outrageous expectations for the football program, absolutely no concern for basketball and football. Tried to talk smack after last years win and got a bunch of "yeah it was a down year we didn't have AJ Green" kind of stuff. Always quick to fall back on how awesome Athens is, tradition etc. when sports aren't going well.

UGA leads the series 16-6 and 11-2 in athens. Until last year we had not beaten the sissy dogs since 1974. We have sucked for most of the last decade. I don't blame them for taking us for granted.

I relate it to KY. I don't care how bad we were and how good they were I always looked at them as a win. Hell we havn't been any good in years and only started to look good last year. If I was a GA fan I could relate to what they are saying. However I think we might clip them this year and if we do, we could end up with eight wins.
