So the story on the infamous Gunny at the Ole Miss game is that he is a training NCO with the NROTC program. He is in charge of the color guard detail. His story is that when the Texas player scored the touchdown, he started to make the "ssshhhh" gesture. In his words, "I knew the Texas fan section was behind me and I knew he was not ssshhhh-ing his own people. I assumed he was hushing me." I said "Hey, don't hush me because Marines, well we don't like to be hushed."

So there it is. The information came from an interview with him on a military blog. His name is Gunnery Sgt Stephen Roberts. To me that makes it even worse because now he is not only saying he lost bearing but admitting to injecting himself into the situation as well as being a dubmass for making an assumption.

Not over blown. It is a big deal with Marines. He embarrassed the Corps.

This guy had a quote years ago that applies.

They don't seemed embarrassed at Military Times:

Looks to me like the overwhelming majority of Marines love him for it.

Oh, and by the way, despite all the heroes over here criticizing him for not serving oversees, he did. This board's hatred of everything black bear could stand to take a little break when dealing with a combat veteran Marine who served his country. What's next? Gonna start throwing drinks on Make-a-Wish kids who want to meet the Ole Miss team?
