Good for her. No reason a woman can't drive a car as well as a man ... it's just that most don't ....
This could be a make or break year for NASCAR. They dumped the CoT for the new set ups--which actually look like what you see at a dealership for a change. Junior is exited, win the fans catch the fever? The cynic in me tells me the boys may have held back a bit to let her get the pole and generate some buzz. The sport d*mn sure needs something at this point. They better not spot her too much or she'll run over them.
I can assure you that
no one "plotted" to let her win the pole. The casual follower doesn't understand she is working with the best equipment in the business with Hendrick motors and chasis. All she needed to do was hold a pretty wheel for 2 laps and did. Winning the Daytona 500 pole is really a testament to the effort the team has put into the car in the offseason. And for the record I don't even see her being a threat to win the race obviously.
And I hope with this new Gen6 car the sport can begin to recapture the interest it had in the 90's and early 2000's.

She can obviously drive the car well and fast when she's the only one on the track. But can she do it when they're all out there at once?
