A buzzard called me a few minutes ago and read an email from their AD Gianini. Apparently the Liberty Bowl is actually a three conference agreement between SEC, CUSA and the Big East. It all depends on some screwball formula. The only way USM goes to the Liberty Bowl is if Georgia eats Corn Dogs this weekend. What that has to do with anything, I have no idea, but I didn't bother to have him re-read the email.

Apparently, USM is headed to Birmingham or Dallas (and not to the Cotton Bowl).

Looks like ticket city bowl (old cotton bowl) vs Ohio state, purdue, or Iowa played on new years day at 11:00 am. Either that or the armed forces bowl vs 9-3 BYU....both better than playing 6-6 Vandy or UConn in the Liberty. Thanks for the interest and pull for the eagles since the Rebs are home yet again for the holidays.

That is correct. It is screwy for sure. If the SEC has 8 or 10 eligible bowl teams, then the CUSA Champion goes to the Liberty Bowl. If the SEC has 9 eligible bowl teams, then the SEC plays a Big East team in the Liberty Bowl. If LSU beats Georgia, then there will be 9 bowl eligible teams. So for USM to go to the Liberty Bowl, Georgia would need to beat LSU and USM will need to beat Houston.. Right now it appears that USM will go to Dallas to play the #6 Big 10 team in the new Ticket City bowl in the Cotton Bowl stadium or play a 9-3 BYU team in the Armed Forces bowl in Dallas. A third option is if CUSA can swing a deal with another conference to place USM in another bowl.

Vandy 6-6 and damn good? Really? Who did they beat that was good? Name me one? Om was only decent early in the year and still couldn't beat BYU. Nice try though.

What? If your credibility wasn't already shot, it is now. OM was garbage the minute they stepped on the field. Do you know how many rush yards Southern Illinois put up against them? Southern Illinois. Ever heard of them?

Vandy had the best redzone defense in the SEC this year, against the same competition as your #1, #2, #8, #12, and #14 teams in the country. I don't care if they have a "signature win" like you say teams need to have, that's the most improved team in sports this year. Do you honestly believe USM could play USC and Georgia that close? Last time USM and USC played it got silly. Actually, the SEC team USM played before that was out of hand, and that's the worst Auburn team I've seen since I was a little chillen.

of crap Cotton Bowl Stadium, its NOT the old Cotton Bowl as you put it. As far as "better than playing in the Liberty" as you put it, the Armed Forces pays out $600k, Ticket City $1.1m, and the Birmingham Bowl pays only $900k to the SEC team and $600K to the Big E so if you go there, expect the Conference USA team to get an eskimo pie and subway sandwich. The Liberty would pay you $1.7M so if you would rather go to DFW area and play for less $$$, tell your other 9 friends to rent a van and yall head out!

They were not near as bad game 1 as they were game 12. Sorry but you are blind if you think so. Also you didn't tell what signaturevwin Vandy had this year to make them "great"? Oh I forgot on here we talk about great losses. Congrats to state and Vandy on great losses!
