I realize a kid is moved to soft verbal when he takes visits but any word on why he's going to Auburn and Vandy so late? This is the same guy who was denied early entry. Taking in the process?

You guys get too worked up when our commits take visits. Take yourself back to your 17 year old mind. Now, you got colleges offering to pay for you to come hang out around hot girls and be told you're awesome all weekend. You not going to take them up on that? I know I would. Go visit Vandy in Nashville or hang out in the MS Delta.
Don't get too wound up about it. Its the dead period. Things never seem to go well for us during the dead period. We already had Graham sounding iffy and now potentially Green setting up visits. Usually things start getting better once the dead period ends.
Green is going to take visits. Epps is going to take visits. High School students should be able to sign whenever they want to sign. Maybe the NCAA could keep signing day as the last day you can change your mind if you have already signed, but once a player is ready to sign they shouldn't have to wait until Feb to do it.
Now given, if they sign a LOI early and go back on their word they should have to pay a fine up to something like 2,500 dollars. If a player commitment is accepted by a university and is dropped later, the University should have to give them 2 years tuition at their next school and lose one half of a scholarship for two years, and teams shouldn't have the ability to grey shirt players. That would clean up the practices on both the student athletes and the universities.

You mean when the guys that are being recruited have games? That's when you want them to visit for the weekend? Hey John Q. Athlete, can you skip your game this weekend to visit campus? Also, our coaches won't be able to speak to you because they are too busy preparing for and coaching their own game. Sounds fun, right?

You're right. I'm going to write the MHSAA (and every other football association) and ask them to move the high school games from Saturday night to Friday night.** Well, if it ain't fun, why do recruits pay out of their own pockets to attend the games? But you're right again, coaches don't ever speak to recruits before a game.** And Friday nights in January are the only nights that they can find co-eds willing to show how much they support their team.**
My point against the whole idea of the school paying for the trip. They cause more problems than they solve. If there ever were an early signing period, it is reasonable that most January trips would be moved into the season.
Most recruits don't pay out of pocket for games. Recruits get free tickets.

No I don't expect families to pay for a weekend. Again, that's my whole point. Please don't act like kids aren't acquainted with the campuses of interest by the time they lace up for their senior campaign. Not that it matters, but I once took a recruiting trip to State, saw the campus, and it took about half a day.
