I heard a staggering piece of trivia on Out Of Bounds this morning. Woody McCorvey was Alabama's offensive coordinator in 1996. Wow.
Intrigued by this incredible trivia, I headed over to wikipedia for confirmation. Upon discovering that Woody McCorvey has no wikipedia page (get busy six packers!), I headed over to the next most knowledgeable Woody McCorvey site, mstateathletics. There I confirmed that McCorvey was indeed the OC at Alabama in 1996. Amazing.
After this lesson in SEC history, it occurred to me that in my haste to forget all things Croom, I'd not followed what happened to Woody after he left Starkville. Turns out, Woody had a one-day stint as South Carolina WR coach. Spurrier deined all reports of a Ninja visiting his bedroom at night and whispering "what the 17 are you thinking" and merely said:
Googling McCorvey revleaed that he vollowed up his one-day Gamecock WR coaching gig by joining the Clemson staff as national security advisor.

"I take all the blame for it. Sometimes you need to sleep on those things. I should have slept on it and thought about it a little bit more. He's a good coach, and he's a good person. I just don't know right now that that's what we need to do."
