Just signed a 6-year sponsorship agreement. Theoretically, we could play there one day, but with it 10th on the SEC's bowl list, I kind of doubt the SEC will have enough eligible teams most years.

Indy Bowl Trivia ...

What team has been to the Indy Bowl the most?

*************************************

No teams have been there more than Ole Miss with 5 appearances. La Tech is #2 with 4 appearances, 5 teams have been 3 times (AF, Bama, Missouri, McNeese and A&M)

In all, 8 different SEC teams have been to the Indy Bowl, there have been 16 Games with SEC participation and the SEC record is 13-3 (81.2%)

It will always be the weed whacker bowl to me....since it has been referred to as Ole Miss's favorite Christmas vacation spot over the years...

Are we approaching a tipping point with these guys yet?

Full disclosure.. I just don't get it. The show sucks. They probably make some fine duck and deer calls, but the show is absolutely terrible.

And I fully realize they probably have a gold room ala Scrooge McDuck

they are milking every last cent out of it and I'd do the same.

I don't blame them either, but I just don't see the appeal of all these hillbilly/redneck shows. There must be a dozen of them, all the way from wrestling alligators to cutting down trees. I'd rather watch highbrow intellectual programming, like Ancient Aliens, UFO Hunters, and Chasing Aliens (which is probably THE worst pseudo-science program ever).

Never have watched Duck Dynasty and have no plans to.

Yes. They have basically acknowledged that they don't expect the show to last more than 5 or 6 years tops. That's why I'm sort of surprised they inked a 6 year deal. I wouldn't think the duck and deer calls would support that kind of deal by themselves and I would think the other merchandise will largely dry up when the show loses popularity. If they haven't already expanded to offer pretty much an entire line of hunting gear, I'm guessing they will in the next few years.

And I disagree that the show sucks. All the semi-scripted reality shows are sort of terrible, but they have some episodes that are pretty good. I think they've gotten worse as they've had to do more scripting and more contrived stories, but a lot of the earlier shows were entertaining.

Finding Bigfoot trumps them all.

The first season of DD was semi entertaining but now it's stale. I was a fan of Phil well before as a speaker at DU banquets. Met him at our local chapter meeting when I was in high school.

Have you seen the ads for the arm wrestling show? Not sure when it starts, but there may be some glorious unintentional comedy on TV soon. Well...more of it, anyway.

I'll be watching the Duck Commander Bowl wearing a Si shirt from Wal-Mart while sitting in my made in Mississippi Duck Commander camo recliner. No better way to spend an afternoon at home in my double wide.

They market some wicked seasonings also.....both 'hot' and 'mild'...really good on most any food that you would use salt and pepper, etc.

Matt. 7:1 - "Do not judge, or you too will be judged"

OT: At what point does Phil discuss the Bible's take on greed?

____________________________

Successful does not equal greed. He lives such a lavish lifestyle that he chooses to live in a double wide trailer despite the fact that he founded a business worth hundreds of million$.

Their duck calls are to duck hunting gear as an uncle si tshirt is to casual wear.

But.....Their start came from the duck commander DVDs back in the day.

Totally your prerogative to not like it, but that puts you in a group of about 1% of people... It's only like the most popular show ever on cable.

Full disclosure, it's one of about three shows that I will actually look at a TV long enough to watch.

But i do agree that it has a limited shelf life. They overmarketed themselves.

I honestly can't believe what some of y'all post on here. Phil Robertson's views and beliefs are probally aligned with 70% of Americans opinions and beliefs. The show duck dynasty could be better, but the show represents the views and beliefs of hard nosed, hard working , god fearing American citizens. All of the I'm better than you , or my daddy did this or owns this posters can kiss my fat *** because there will always be more down to earth, god fearing , hard working people than there will ever be of you . Phil and his family came from nothing, absolutely nothing and became millionaires and it rubs y'all intitled 17s the wrong way. I've said my peace that's all .

Actually statistically he's pretty much dead on

A little over 70% of Americans profess to be Christians... Phil's pretty much as by-the-Bible Christian as you can get.

If my small sheltered world is what I know, and have known from 30+ years around Mississippi State athletics there are more than 70% of Mississippi State fans and supporters that agree with the Robertson's family and religious values.

I know they are known for their charities but they also charge ridiculous amounts of money to make appearances for these events. Ive been involved with two homes for hope events with them and the amount they get paid for these are ridiculous. We tried to get them for a wildlife event last year and it would have been nearly 6 figures for 3 of them.

70% of Americans believe that gays automatically go to Hell? 70% believe that blacks were happier and more godly during the brutal Jim Crow days of segregation? You really need to get out more if you really think that...

Or are you just completely oblivious to what Robertson said and erroneously think he just gave some generic line like "I love Jesus and my family" and that's what everyone's upset about?

You'd probably get a little higher proportion of MSU fans than the general American public at large who believe those things about gays and blacks, but obviously nowhere near 70%.

I would definitely say a majority, over 50% easily.
But 70 is a high number, especially for Evangelical Christians.

Did you read what he said or get your talking points from the Huffington Post?

Sinning does not equal "automatically go to Hell". Jesus forgives. It's in the New Testament. Look it up.

The blacks that he grew up with (not read about like some here ... ;)) did not experience the brutality that you so speak. Did he say that it didn't exist? No. He is giving his experience. You can call him a liar if you like. I'm sure you know better.

Yeah, I'm sure they didn't experience "brutality", per se, but I'd be willing to bet that if they had whistled at a white woman, they'd likely be singing a different tune. His account of how his black "friends" experienced life is beyond naive.

You would know bette than he.

What part of "his experience" did you not understand?
You don't know him but you are "cool" with making prejudiced statements about him.
You don't actually believe that he has black "friends"?!?!?! You really don't know him AT ALL.
Keep up your uninformed judgements about a redneck, bearded white man who MUST be racist and a homophobe because he simply read scripture that you apparently disagree with.

His experience was obviously about the most sheltered and bubbled experience anywhere in the deep south.
It's damn near amazing that race relations were so harmonious on that land he worked.
A real progressive area of the deep south, I suppose.
