We'd be raising hell if Stricklin and Dan did this.

For a school like USM, you play the highest ranked opponent possible to prove you can play with the better conferences. There shouldn't be any deviation from that concept regardless of what the media is going to do prior to, during, or after the bowl game.

Additionally, Fedora was going to be gone no matter what bowl they play in. Trying to make it easier for him to exit is crap.

but this one I just can't cosign on. If Fedora was going to leave anyway, you thank him for his time but as athletic leader of your university you have to make moves that's in the best interest of your university as a whole. If Fedora comes to Giannini and tells him he wants to reward the players for their success for an all expense paid trip to Hawaii, he should have responded with that the players could have easily gone to Hawaii before hand had they scheduled a home and home with the rainbow warriors. Not only are the fanbase not going to be able to make that trip, but the players shouldn't be focused on a vacation. Although they should enjoythemselves, they should be more focused on proving the nation wrong that they are a legitimate team by playing against the best competition possible.By conceding to a coach that even he knew wouldn't be there next year showed his lack of leadership for his university and that should be unacceptable.

just that there were some reasons for it. I agree about playing the higher ranked team in general. But even the mention of the name Penn St. is toxic right now. I don't blame anyone for not playing them. As for Fedora leaving, this doesn't make it any easier for him to leave. He was leaving no matter what bowl game they went to. But this does give your team a better chance to win the bowl game without having to play with a completely new (and maybe even an incomplete) coaching staff

Agree with this.

To add on two points:

-Why are you letting a coach that you know is leaving (heacknowledged this) make the decision onsomething as important as your bowl game?

-If you wanted nothing to do with the PSU scandal, we also could have played 9-3 BYU in another Dallas bowl game--far better of an optionthan Nevada.
