in truth they are a bunch of tree hugging liberal commies exposed by Mutt's post. Damn, you guys can go sit in your little soccer stadiums with the other ESL people and free up more seats for the rest of us at DWS.
I live a more conservative life than probably 85% of the population. I don't gamble, don't use drugs, don't have unsecured debt, have held the same job for the last decade since I got out of college, live in a mid-sized Midwestern city, and have been married for 10 years and with the same woman for 15 years, and voted Libertarian the last 2 elections.
But I will never call myself a Republican and if I were called a conservative, I would consider it to be insulting. Its because of what the leaders and loud mouths of the Republican party and the conservative movement have chosen for their rally cries and hot button issues. Its all social issues over and again- and I very much conflict with their agendas on the social issues.
From what I can tell, many posters here hold similar views- they do not live wild and reckless lives. They live conservatively while advocating for equality and opportunity for all.
Just because a bunch of posters in this thread cant stand Coulter, that doesn't mean they are liberal commies. It could simply mean they don't care to be subjected to divisive rants and they seek out other forms of communication for socio-political news and commentary. There are plenty of conservative commentators that don't try to divide and don't try to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Perhaps posters in this thread that you call liberal commies are simply more interested in the writings of more measured commentators.
As for the tree hugging comment- sorry, but that just shouldn't be an insult. Who here wants to burn thru finite fossil fuels? Who here wants their local streams and rivers to be polluted? Who here want forests around them to be depleted? Really now- people, both liberal and conservative, don't want these things. It isn't a bad thing to advocate for a clean environment. And it certainly isn't a bad thing to try to live in a way that impacts the environment less than the year prior- meaning small steps over time for all.
Have room in your yard for a 3x3 compost pile to toss leaves, plant material, and plant based food scraps? Great! Itll reduce the yardbags you buy, the yardwaste at the dump, and give you great mulch/compost for plants and gardens.
Have flower beds? Buy or make a rain barrel(about $40 total) to hook up to a downspout. You will reduce or even eliminate the amount of highly refined tap water you use on your lawn/flowers and it will be free.
I just don't understand why anyone would refuse to do things like the above due to their political views. Both help reduce personal expenses- quite conservative. Both help reduce negative impact on the local environment.
- oh, and Coulter is neither funny nor insightful. What does she say that hasn't been said hundreds of times over by other commentators?
