I'm basing these rankings off of what is feasible for MSU to be able to achieve at this point in our program.
Class: I think there are still some decent guys in the class that fill some important roles. Dak is a player and could be the best QB we've had in a long time. Morrow is a tall WR that can stretch the field. Haven't had a legit WR threat in a while, and no O'Neal Wilder doesn't count. Arrington, whatever role he plays for us, is a big hitter and can play LB or safety. Justin Cox is a tall, fast corner that I think can hang in the SEC once he gets more experience on the defensive side of the football. PJ Jones gets to learn from Cox and Boyd and should be SEC ready in a few years.
Fosselman has good hands, Milton will be a good RB, Darius Slay should be able to come in and start at CB. Good depth from some other guys. I think this is a talented class, but obviously not what it could have been. We have added more speed, some depth at corner, a good QB and a tall WR in this class. We haven't had that in a long time, so that's why the B+. We get 3 of 4 out of Singleton, Brassell, CJ, and Whitehead and this is an A+ class.
Coaching staff: Bad job closing. We had some coaching turnover during a very crucial recruiting period, and I still think that it did play a bit of a factor for some guys. We have to remember we have some depth on this team. WR is deep, QB is now deep, DL is deep, and safety is deep. We can't pitch instant PT tosome of these guys. I also think we have a class that all WANT to be at MSU and some guys that have stuff to prove. This class will be very close with one another, and I think that will be very good for us in the future.Toward the end a lot of personalities starting coming out and it seemed like it became way more about them than it did theschool they were going to.
I still think this is a solid class that will provide some good starters and some quality SEC caliber depth. We had a good year last year, but if we want Top 20 classes, we have to do it more consistently. Until we can prove that we can do that, classes like this will still happen. This proves we still have a tough hill to climb to compete with recruits against the rest of the SEC.
