Given what you've seen so far this season....

if you could, would you:

A. Take a guaranteed 6-6 season, an Indy Bowl berth, and wait for next season.

B. See how the rest of the season plays out and hope for better.

I vote A.

I take A all day long. I don't think we are quite good enough to do much better this season and one of the most important things for us to do this season is to show continued progress from last season and keep our recruiting class intact. I think making any bowl will be good enough to do that. However, if we do go 6 - 6 and make a bowl game this year, I will definitely be expecting a better record and better bowl next season.

I agree with everything that Dawg in a pile said. I felt like we had a shot to go 7-5 with our schedule. But after the Tech loss, 6-6 looks to be awesome. After the first two games, my observations tell me we are most likely to win 4.

17 all this 'take it to the next level' crap. Remember, we are MSU. Once we get consistent at beating HS teams (LaTech), talk to me about crankin' it up a notch (for the record, the Kang lost to LaTech, ULM, Troy, & tied Ark State). I'll take being competitive all day long (but it would be nice to kick the shat out of all the HS teams we play & beat the Rebs regularly).

Maybe we somehow magically do better. Otherwise, it proves to everyone once and for all that the Croom experiment is over and it is time to either hire a real coach or admit that we really don't give a **** about having a competitive football team.

I still hope we could win more than 6 even that that is about as hopeless of a thought i have on my mind.

.......no expectations for any amount of success this year anyway. So yeah, a guaranteed 6-6 season with a bowl berth is a no-brainer. It's not great, and it's not what we all want, but it's good enough to keep the current class and convince them and everyone else that we're possibly on the edge of becoming a consistent winning program.

To me, anything less 6 wins this year is a sign that 2007 was a fluke and that Croom has done little in his 5 years but sucker the school into forking over a shitload of $$ for himself and his buddy Woodrow.

State may not be a very popular draw after we stepped in dog **** there, but on the other hand would probably sell a lot of tickets, so they might slip in there with six wins, provided there's not a better choice with six wins that would maybe sell as many or more tickets, like Arkansas or Ole Miss. In other words, the loss to LaTech would probably loom pretty large in the decision and may be the fly in the ointment. The bowl game in Birmingham might be a more likely choice for State.

Hell, I predicted 6 wins this season, so that would be hitting my mark. I can hardly see us winning 5 right now.
