Glad recruiting hasn't taken a back seat since Brewster left.

I'm not fully schooled on recruitniking, but have the coaches been able to be in contact much? It's been a quiet period or evaluation period until recently.

Class of 2014 Recruiting Dates

February 8 through April 14, 2013—Quiet Period.
April 15 through May 31, 2013—Evaluation Period for Class of 2014:

During the evaluation period (4/15/13 through 5/31/13) college staffs have approximately 30 days to conduct both athletic and academic evaluations of potential recruits. Days not used for evaluation during this time window are otherwise considered "quiet."
June 1, 2013 through July 31, 2013 — Quiet Period.

We offered this kid way early so I trust our coaches judgement on him. If we offered him early feb, I'd be disappointed

What stood out to me is this in the Jamal Jones section:

"On what stood out about Ole Miss: “That field and their graduation rate of football players. It was 87 percent. [Hugh Freeze] is a nice man. He’s very fun to talk to.”"

Can someone look into that? I really, really doubt that is true.

Hell no that can't be true. Even if it were, 87% isn't that great. If that's what that kid is impressed by I hope he gets an opportunity make it to our campus for a visit and someone lets him know that we have the highest graduation rate of any college in Mississippi or of any football program in Mississippi and our graduates make more money than any other Mississippi university.

If he said it...it MUST be true.

I think we are gonna really miss Tim Brewster leaving for Fla State...he did a heck of a recruiting job in just the few months he was here.
Hope this Billy Gonzales(believe that is his name)guy lives up to his recruiting credentials. Mullen got out recruited by Freeze on this last class and also so far on this current class......we need a stud recruiter to sell these athletes to us and away from the plantation.....

And 24/7 was reporting that Gonz. was trying hard to establish a connection with Cathey.

No ****. 5' 8" 3 star with no other SEC offers. Committed here 5 months ago, but he's already traveling to visit other schools? Wait until Mullen hears about that...

FWIW A 247 national guy (either Barton S or Keith N) said he is the best player in TN. He was personally very high on him. I like Cathey and am not worried about him flipping. Yet. But if he does, 5'8 4.4 guys are everywhere in the south

It's not true...

Under Orgeron/Freeze, Ole Miss lied to recruits about grad rates, and they're obviously doing it again.

I posted about it on 247 when I saw the article. The last official GSR's were last October, and OM's was 59%.

The APR, which tracks more recent academic progress, had OM 2nd to last in the SEC (pre merger). OM's APR was 933 and last place UT's was 931.

From the NCAA website: "Beginning with 2012-13 championships, teams must earn a minimum 900 four-year APR or a 930 average over the most recent two years to be eligible to participate. For 2014-15 championships, teams must earn a 930 four-year average APR or a 940 average over the most recent two years to participate in championships. In 2015-16 and beyond, teams must earn a four-year APR of 930 to compete in championships."

OM's last 5 APR's are 933, 939, 929, 921, and 910. Ole Miss was penalized 3 scholarships after the 929, and since the requirements have increased, they are close to suffering APR penalties again.

Don't think this is true. From 11 days ago:

"I've been talking to Coach Gonzales lately and I am ready to get down there for their camp," said Cathey. "I am ready to talk to him in person more because we really can't talk to them when they visit our school. I am still solid with Mississippi State because I really like the school and their program."

And from 41 days ago:

Since Tim Brewster's exit to Florida State, the Bulldogs hired
Billy Gonzales to coach the receivers and he is also recruiting Cathey now and in the Memphis area. That is a relationship that has started off on the right foot, said Cathey."I just started talking to Coach Gonzales and he came by the school this week," said Cathey. "He has talked to my coaches a lot and said he was coming back to our track meets. I am still committed to Mississippi State and I am starting to feel more comfortable with them again. I look forward to building on my relationship with Coach Gonzales, too, and that helps. I am also ready to be at some of their games this fall."

I got a personal tour of the new football facilities this weekend. Simply wow. I know this is an obvious and overstated comment but that building is going to get us a ton of players. I went through with a buddy who's a GA somewhere else and once went on an official to KSU out of JUCO and he was even more impressed than I was. Holy hell. I don't think we'll see the full benefits of it until next year because the kids this year have been recruited for a while either way and probably have their minds made up but it should be a landslide in the future.

That was Barton last year and he was referring to Donald Gray, not Cathey. But I agree with u and think he sticks regardless.
