Girls play sports?
Since it's April Fools day, I'll make a serious post about girls basketball. For one thing, there's not enough talent out there among the High Schools so because of that, there's little parity. You see the same few teams every year make the final Four. However, moreso, there's very few low seeds upsetting high seeds
(with the exception of Harvard upsetting Stanford one year). Not only that, but there's very few girls basketball coaches that can "coach up" a lower-talented team to defeat someone with better athletes.
On the other hand, there's always excitement in the Mens NCAA tournament because the talent is so equal and spread out, and the coaching is far better. Why just this year, you had Florida Gulf Coast (founded in 1997) make the Sweet 16, as well as 13th seeded LaSalle destroy their opposition on their way to a Sweet 16 as well, Wichita State's in the final Four, and the Worst SEC basketball team in World History completely dismantled the GREATEST Ole Miss Basketball Team Of All Time....you don't get these kind of upsets in girls basketball.
Finally, everyone talks about how girls basketball is "good, fundamental basketball". Oh really? Girls bouncing uncontested layups off the bottom of the rim is "good fundamental basketball"? 3 Point Set Shots? The guys in that Buffalo Wild Wings commercial could beat most College Girls teams, and probably play the Top seeds tough for a half.
