Hey, when you have no tradition and no defining look, there's no such thing as a "brand" to protect, so throw all the weird crap at the wall that you want I guess.
Somehow, Oregon has managed to build a brand out of wild uniforms and essentially never wearing the same thing twice, but for everyone else, your brand is tied to your look.
That crap Miami put on the other night against Louisville, for example, was a joke. Miami does actually have a somewhat iconic look, and for branding purposes, it is a GOOD thing for them if you turn on the TV and know you're watching Miami play. That Miami-Louisville game could've been a South Florida-Rutgers game from the jerseys those teams wore, and I wouldn't have known any different just by looking at the TV from across a bar.
I'm good with using an alternate look on occasion, but ultimately, I think you're smart to stick with a brand and stick with certain colors at the very least. If you're a program like UAB or Kansas with no tradition, no one really cares anyway, so go right ahead and mess with your uniforms constantly.
