defensive team we've had since I can remember, but our coaches know how to coach defense. They know how to coach the high screens. Our current players just basically suck at it. Sid can't move his feet but he tries and does decent the first 5 or 10 minutes of the game coming out on the ball handler before going back to get his man. The biggest problem to me is the rotation of the other guys when the 5 goes out to hedge on the point guard. Just like tonite late in the 2nd half. High screen, Sid steps out to stop Ellington, Cooke rolls to basket, Sid can't get back(actually doesn't even move) and Moultrie is supposed to be rotating to help. Instead Cooke gets an EASY as pie dunk to take the lead I believe. Looked awful and was awful. But if you think our players don't practice this over and over during the preseason and during defensive drills during the season, you are crazy. Our players know what they should do. Just getting them to do it in game situations is up to them. Sure Stans has to take responsibility for it, but I'd bet my left one this has been worked on til the coaches are blue in the face.
Bost going under screens. Bost getting beat on a cross over(see Baylor) and no help D. Deville going for head fakes, shoulder fakes, any kindof fake and getting blown by for a layup. Dee going for a head fake on Trevor Releford with no time on the clock and fouling a guy who can't make a 15 foot jump shot from 25-30 foot out before half. I could go on about Jalen, Moultrie, no need to even say anything about Sid. We just collectively as a team aren't very good defensively. Period.
