Careful. That’s taboo to say that on this board. And maybe some new assistant coaches!
Especially TJ…![]()
Yes. Derek kick out to Cam.Rutgers was never going to win in double overtime

Agree. I was surprised we didn’t try to kick it out to Cam there. Maybe it was covered but it seemed like the play was for two. Anyway, need to take a step away. This team was stressful. Time to move onto the stressful Cubs rebuild.Rutgers was never going to win in double overtime

It should not have come down to the final play in OT.Meh Derek had a great look and Cliff was in position for a put back.
Unfortunately the ball just didn’t bounce our way. Not the first time this season.
Simpson makes that if he had been playing earlier in the season
If down by two I think driving to the basket is the play, more so at home gamesRutgers was never going to win in double overtime

THIS...I was afraid he'd go to Simpson and as a frosh doesn't have the end game stones yet. We saw it with Purdue. But he will be very goodSimpson makes that if he had been playing earlier in the season

Would’ve been fine if the just ran that same V cut to Cam that they ran earlier in OT.Yes. Derek kick out to Cam.
You literally have the dumbest takes. He made a good soft shot that just didn’t go in. Had nothing to do with your premiseSimpson makes that if he had been playing earlier in the season
Hofstra hit some ridiculous shots in overtime, but it shouldn’t have come to overtime. We were up 5 with what, 27 seconds left? Its mind boggling that Rutgers had a rare offensive explosion scoring 84 points and still loss the game.Rutgers did lose six games at the RAC in front of loud crowds which tells me there needs to be roster changes for next season. The lack of bench scoring has been a problem in recent seasons. The lack of players that can create and make shots off the dribble needs to be addressed in the transfer portal. The biggest concern is the 2024 recruiting and how it will be impacted by the disappointing end to the season.Higher level talent is needed ASAP.
Their best player fouled out of the game in the second half and we still were playing on our heels for the entire overtime period.Common thought is that you go for the tie at home and win in the road.
This is different circumstances here since it’s win or go home in the NIT lol but it’s not a huge deal.
Yes we would have probably lost in double OT the way they were dropping shots and our guys were probably getting heavy legs.
It should have never been this close. Where was the stifling D? 88 points from Hofstra, are you friggin kidding me!Meh Derek had a great look and Cliff was in position for a put back.
Unfortunately the ball just didn’t bounce our way. Not the first time this season.
The game changed as soon as Rutgers made its first substitutions in the first half. Hofstra got a life and began believing it could compete with Rutgers. The Rutgers bench needs a complete overhaul.the team has no killer instinct and no sense of urgency, they play with a very much stay the course, we’ll get‘em next time attitude. They lost the game in the beginning when they come out with energy, have the opponent on the ropes and instead of going for the knockout punch and getting a sense of doubt in the player’s heads, the take their foot off the pedal, loose focus, unload the bench, let the other team get back in, get comfortable, and set up the 40 minute dogfight. Not sure how much is on the players and how much is on the coach, but we are taking about a coach that has a larger sample size of this pattern than the players.
Pikiell is now 2-9 coaching in the postseason in his career and 0-4 in the NIT.

If a game goes another overtime so be it
Our defense was horrendous i dont care how many great shots Hofstra madeHofstra hit some ridiculous shots in overtime, but it shouldn’t have come to overtime. We were up 5 with what, 27 seconds left?
No arguments from me.Our defense was horrendous i dont care how many great shots Hofstra made
Your initial premise is false.Rutgers was never going to win in double overtime

I absolutely agree. Guys were fading off the shooter all game long. Our defense was horrendous i dont care how many great shots Hofstra made
really....because we didnt get a stop 2x at the end of the game, we didnt get a stop on Hofstra last possession and they were continuing to hit and were hot. So do you really think a 2nd ot would have worked..any evidence of that. were you at the game.Your initial premise is false.
