Rutgers was never going to win in double overtime

Set up a 3..win or lose

Rutgers needs athletes thats for sure
Agree. I was surprised we didn’t try to kick it out to Cam there. Maybe it was covered but it seemed like the play was for two. Anyway, need to take a step away. This team was stressful. Time to move onto the stressful Cubs rebuild. 😎

Did Pike really draw up that last in- bound play? He had 2.4 seconds- set up a pick and shoot. Basic basketball.

Simpson makes that if he had been playing earlier in the season
THIS...I was afraid he'd go to Simpson and as a frosh doesn't have the end game stones yet. We saw it with Purdue. But he will be very good

i missed the game tonight but was saying the same thing to my buddy today. we need better athletes and so does the BIG in general and it’s why most of the teams haven’t done anything in the tourney recently . Finally in 2024 we are getting some big time athletes and can maybe play a different brand of basketball ala bama and houston who still play great d but have athletes all over the floor. Someone’s gotta break this trend in the league so it might as well be us

Pikiell is now 2-9 coaching in the postseason in his career and 0-4 in the NIT.

Its mind boggling that Rutgers had a rare offensive explosion scoring 84 points and still loss the game.Rutgers did lose six games at the RAC in front of loud crowds which tells me there needs to be roster changes for next season. The lack of bench scoring has been a problem in recent seasons. The lack of players that can create and make shots off the dribble needs to be addressed in the transfer portal. The biggest concern is the 2024 recruiting and how it will be impacted by the disappointing end to the season.Higher level talent is needed ASAP.

the team has no killer instinct and no sense of urgency, they play with a very much stay the course, we’ll get‘em next time attitude. They lost the game in the beginning when they come out with energy, have the opponent on the ropes and instead of going for the knockout punch and getting a sense of doubt in the player’s heads, the take their foot off the pedal, loose focus, unload the bench, let the other team get back in, get comfortable, and set up the 40 minute dogfight. Not sure how much is on the players and how much is on the coach, but we are taking about a coach that has a larger sample size of this pattern than the players.

Hofstra hit some ridiculous shots in overtime, but it shouldn’t have come to overtime. We were up 5 with what, 27 seconds left?

Common thought is that you go for the tie at home and win in the road.

This is different circumstances here since it’s win or go home in the NIT lol but it’s not a huge deal.

Yes we would have probably lost in double OT the way they were dropping shots and our guys were probably getting heavy legs.

Their best player fouled out of the game in the second half and we still were playing on our heels for the entire overtime period.

The game changed as soon as Rutgers made its first substitutions in the first half. Hofstra got a life and began believing it could compete with Rutgers. The Rutgers bench needs a complete overhaul.

Your initial premise is false.
really....because we didnt get a stop 2x at the end of the game, we didnt get a stop on Hofstra last possession and they were continuing to hit and were hot. So do you really think a 2nd ot would have worked..any evidence of that. were you at the game.
