Would it have helped morale to have kicked a couple field goals instead of turn it over on downs?

Might be the unpopular opinion but I thought going for it was the right call in both situations. Hindsight is 20/20 of course. We had it on the first play but KJ made a terrible throw. Second one was a poor play call but that late in the game you’ve gotta got for it, especially after we didn’t get it the first time. I might have run something around the edge or a quick pass.

Less concerned about situational play calling and more concerned about the bigger picture of this offense against talented SEC defenses that are going to zone us to death.

I agree with you right call to go for it we just didn't have the right call nor very good execution. One of those we mad a terrible throw so next forth down he ran it. First one right call but bad throw maybe an easier throw call might have been the right play call or a swing pass but without kylin in the game that's risky also. Next time he thinks we'll we only need a yard we will run it but no kylin. The problem is we kept getting in the forth and one position in the red zone. How many trips to the red zone did we get where we either stalled or turned the ball over. Dropping 8 not you have to call the play and run the route to find the hole in the zone and if you throw it underneath you have to have yac and break tackles. We did none of those things. Kylin in the game we break more tackles with catches out of the back field. Linebackers pay more attention to Hill than say a Williams or wallet crossing middle of the field. We also didn't run much horizontal pass game like we did but Arkansas didn't press us much. Have to be athletic and make people miss when you dink and dunk. Lots of missed opportunities but with the air raid it's going to be that way. When we hired leach that was going to be it. Live and die by the pass those wanting him to adapt and run haven't watched followed his career much. That air raid philosophy got tech beat a bunch but they won a bunch too. Same with wazzu. Same with ole miss running variations of it. Air raid isn't my favorite offense but leach is the master. When your qb is accurate and your receivers get open and make plays it's fun. If not it's miserable. And games you should win you lose.
