Agree. They could have named him interim through the playoffs and done a real coaching search. Maybe you hire him permanently but maybe you find someone better. If I’m a UM fan I’m not thrilled with this hire. But I’m not as pissed as I was with Arnett & Lebby.

Speaking of the PR push, this is next level.

Surely no one actually thinks Joe has been coaching quarterback in Oxford? I like him, and he’s a good coach. But he rose to level of an NFL head coach based on his experience on defense and special teams. Belichick made him a quarterback coach in New England about the same time he let the current defensive coordinator at Ohio State have a major hand in the offense. Needless to say things weren’t going great there then. The guy who developed Dart and Chambliss just left for Baton Rouge.

Short term it’s good, long term is kinda cloudy.

Kiffin is successful because he has an offensive system that DCs have not yet been able to crack (Saban broke this down on Gameday). OM will be trying to spin this as a positive but they will take a massive step back.

Agreed.

Golding might just be the best possible get for a playoff bound Ole Miss.

The Rebels would have searching for gold in the Christmas leftovers had they waited.

The hires made so far by other schools aren’t eye-dropping now and the availability pool would be much more shallow in January.

Still not a great hire but potentially manageable.

Weis jr leaving hurt, need to go after some offensive staff who can run a similar system. Ole Miss should have made Weis Jr a rich man

They fired kiffins whole staff and made a clueless Meathead HC and let a high school coach appt his staff with a bunch of good ole boys ? Must have missed that.

And I hope their results are similar to ours the last three years. Unfortunately, we have Low IQ, Loser Libby who is incapable of taking advantage of their rebuild like Lane did during ours.

How can we "take advantage" of their rebuild other than out spending them for players ?
