Golf Dawgs off to a good start

+16 through 15 for seventh place. Top 10 make the national championships.

We were at 4th..but have blown up the last 3-4 holes on the front nine.
Including a triple bogey

5th place is +12, so 9 strokes out of the championship cut with 2 rounds to go.
Needless to say, Must of been a rough day on the field as only 5 under par, 3 more at par on the day.
Texas Tech is -2 as a team, with 2 one under par, and 2 at par..
while Host Texas is 7 over, in 2nd place, with the top player tied at 3 under.\

Best MSU performance is Josh Bevell with a +3 at 18th place.
WHOLE Team had one birdie on the front nine..to go with 16 bogeys, 1 double bogey, 2 triple bogeys.OUCH
That was just on the front nine (MSU started on the back nine this morning)

The key to a good round is getting through holes 5,6,7 and 8 in even par. Today they were +14 as team on those 4 holes alone.

but you are right - those four holes are where this thing will be won or lost. If we would have been even on those four we'd be in second place. Texas Tech must have a hell of a team to have two under and two even.

For you non-college golf followers- each team fields five, the lowest score is dropped.

You mean the highest score is dropped. 5 is actually the hardest hole but in a south wind it plays dead down. 6 isnt all that great of a hole. The tee shot sets you up funny, from both back tee boxes and the approach shot is a weird angle as well.. 7 isnt all that hard. Just longer since they added the new tee box. If your going to miss it on your approach shot, miss it right. Everything filters back down to the green. The 8th hole is a 240 yard par 3 with a green that is designed to take an 8 iron shot. Bad design. Unless of course you have 240 yard moon ball shot in your bag. A lot of shots will be in that front left bunker. Hell, I use to get my mail delivered there.</p>
