I am sitting here trying to watch the open and I can't see the damn ball.

I can see it on the in flight camera , but when it hits the ground I can't pick it up at all.

Is it the time of day and the lighting , bad camera angles?

Is anyone else watching and having this problem? I have watched tons of golf and never had this much trouble picking up the ball.

I think most of it is from the discoloration of the greens. They aren't in good shape yet so they're not that dark green we're used to seeing on TV.

I googled it and found a few more complaints about the visibilty of the ball on TV.

Maybe it is an NBC problem or maybe it is just the time of day. Anyway , the later it gets the better I can see the ball.

I love that it falls into prime time and I hope the viewing gets better for the last round on Sunday.

It certainly isnt as clear as most normal tournaments.
I think the sun/location is partly to blame as well as the grass/shadows.

That part of the country, actually from there up to near San Francisco along the coast, is tough viewing late in the day for golf. Ive played a few courses out there and north of there that are coastal and in the late day your sight is sorta blurred...for lack of a better word.

My brother in law played Pebble Beach a few years ago and said that there's so much mist and spray from the ocean that the greens stay damp all day. It's like playing in the early morning here with heavy dew. If you'll look, you can see the footprints on the green.
