Back from Myrtle Beach and an outstanding week of weather, booze, food and golf. First, the weather was great. Couldn't have asked for it to be any better. 70's and even low 80's a couple of days. No rain to speak of.
We played some nice courses for relatively good prices. We played Tidewater twice for 49$ a round. Probably my favorite course we played. I would recommend playing there if you're ever down that way. Second favorite was Pauley's Plantation which had some beautiful scenery and lightning fast greens. The Fazio course at Barefoot Landing was tremendous as well. It had 90 something bunkers and fortunately I only found 2 all day.
Didn't play too well. Mid to high 80's all week. Drove the ball fine, but couldn't hit my irons for **** and my putting stunk. It's one to two clubs extra down there on every iron shot which took me a bit to get used to. Tough chipping down there too. Best to just use your putter if at all possible.
I at least got to shake some rust off and now it's time to find a new driver this year to replace my old *** Taylormade Burner 2.0

What did the Paddock think of Phil's free drop from deep in the jungle on Saturday? I agreed 100% with Phil . . . "I know it looks bad". Why yes, now that you mention it, it looked like pure BS to me, but at least he didn't win the tournament which would have really made it look bad. I am a Phil fan, but that was pretty hard to swallow.
Its crazy there were sprinkler heads in the bushes and it interfered with him two different times but im not going to kill a guy for using the rules to his advantage. Not the first time and wont be the last, so for me it wasn't a huge deal.
Golfers get screwed by silly rules and random golf things all the time -- I don't have an issue w/ a player taking advantage of those same set of rules when legal and beneficial.
What about Ricky's drop last week on on the 72nd hole where he got to drop from a not so good lie in the rough that was "newly sodded" and ended up in the short stuff after the drop. Even his playing partner had the look of "what the hell was that bro?" Used them to his advantage once again though, something the pros are very good at.
No problem with what Phil did. He had a rules official standing right there observing everything and the official made the call. A lot different than that guy you are playing with that always seems to find his ball in the woods when you are not looking and has a great spot to hit the ball out of.
Oh yeah, there is always one guy in every club whose bad shot with a terrible lie always seems to land in Ground Under Repair. Still, the same situation with a younger less well known pro, I am not sure he would get the benefit of the doubt like Phil did (and Tiger used to)

Played with him Sunday and we were talking about how it all got going. Started out as a little Etsy site just for funsies after he made a leather scorecard holder for himself (he likes to walk) that had others wanting him to make one.
Caught on a little faster than he thought and like I mentioned GolfWrx listed him in one of their Top 10 lists and it was on. Golf Magazine followed suit in their Christmas WishList this past December, and it's turned into a legit little business. Pretty cool, imo.
While they're pretty neat, the minimalist bags aren't for me -- but I do plan to pick up a putter headcover, which are coming soon. Talk about a niche that's lacking (putter headcovers). Unless you're going stock, or some goofy animal/sport team -- there really isn't much out there for a sharp/quality replacement unless you want to drop a few hundo ([eyeroll]) on the creepy Scotty Cameron black market.

M2 driver ordered and on the way. Have to put on a new grip first thing. Any of you hacks re-grip your own clubs?
I went Ping irons over a decade ago... Didn't do the Ping woods.... As time went by the 1 & 5 got to where they didn't take direction well... Found a G30 Reg at end-of-season price... It was a rocky start but we came to an agreement... The G30 said, "dude, relax and swing me sweet and easy and I'll do you right". So this year I spied a new/used G30 5 metal, with an Aldila R-shaft and hit it pretty good last time out....
So yes I like my G30's... I've always been a R-shaft player... But if you're a guy that goes after one then ya might wanna think S-shaft...? Get on the machine maybe? See what's working..... At my age, sweet and easy is the place for me.....
Perry Park this weekend with about 28 guys. Wish it was going to be a little warmer but oh well. A good time will be had by all.
Bad advice to little kids to hit that damn shot basically in jail behind those trees. Arnie would've punched out and made par like a champion.
