If you use The Grint scoring/gps app on your phone they have a feature for online clubs they say are USGA approved for an official GHIN.
Put me down as someone that just hates those things. Played in a scramble where a player had one. After a while I just wanted to take the darn thing and throw it under the wheel of the golf cart. Look at the yardage marker, pick a club and hit the ball and move on works for me.Ended up with Buschnell neo ion watch.($150) Had I seen your post I probably would have bought that and put it in my pocket. BUT as it turns out the watch has been awesome. Zero problems with it on my wrist and playing, lightweight, easy to use, no monthly fees, I have compared yardages to range finders and on yard markers and I'm either spot on or within a yard. It's supposed to be able to be used for 3 or 4 rounds but I charge after a round or two. Saves time grabbing it out of cart etc. I certainly put my stamp on this GPS watch.
Watch is quicker than looking at marker or laser imo. One look, get yardage, pick a club and go. Guy who looks at yardage at times is sitting there subtracting and adding and estimating. Guy with rangefinder has to get it out of cart and put it back in. Watch without question is quickest way to play.Put me down as someone that just hates those things. Undercover Tour Pro: Cheaters Are Hard To Catch, But We Know Who They Are

I believe it's a good idea to get fitted for clubs/ball and keep up with the latest technology out there. So get lessons, practice, get fitted for clubs and keep up with technology the best you can. Nothing groundbreaking that I'm telling youNothing? Not even a get pumped?
Yours, iirc. We should play and have a few domestos sometime, the political thread would enjoy. What club?

Will do....your initials EP correct? I'll look you up on the roster or find your work email, I'm familiar with your company/somewhat know Charlie. I'll shoot you something next week or so.Let's do that. For real. I haven't played in over a month.
Ok golfro's if you're bored and want to take a stab...after a very long absence due to work and back issues I'm getting back into the game.
First and foremost been putting in good range/practice time in at my club which is most important. Short game is rusty af and needs a ton of practice time. Considering starting over with my sticks, thoughts or what parts do you think are the weak spots?
- never been fitted, worth it for high HC? I'm 6'3" so would think would need too but have long arms so I feel like that's always countered my height.
- '14 Big Bertha Driver, the blue one. Like it, figure it's keepable. Rocketballz 4W, Cleveland Mashie....don't use either much
- TM Burner 2.0 irons, good imo but I think are roughly 2010 iirc? Looking at TM M2 irons, enough tech jump to justify replacing the 2.0 or if I'm hitting the 2.0 well just keep?
- Have one Cleveland RTX wedge 54, have used it as a catch all after my AW. Thinking about newer RTX in 54 and 60 and learning how to use them properly.
Thoughts? If the answer is just practice/lessons/play cool, if some of that is worth replacing I will.
Thanks The Paddock golf experts.
I love the "no way this Motherf##%er puts the ball back where it was" quote.
Question: If he marked his ball overnight, and the grounds crew fixed divots in the AM, how was he cheating if he played from the exact same spot, only now it was a freshly sanded or resodded piece of turf?
Golf is such a great lifelong game....we have 53 year old Davis Love III currently leading The Greenbrier.
BTW this is an excellent story by Tim Rosaforte and the golf channel about the flood that happened two weeks before last years Greenbrier:

Higher fees, seasonal closings proposed for Lexington golf courses:golf:

Nope, played 36 a week and a half ago. In great shape. Had a blast.Wait...Meadowbrook is still open? Thought it closed years ago.
The city should sell Tates Creek...prime real estate location for much needed homes in that area. They would make a nice chunk of change.
Meadowbrook should be sold to FCPS. Southern could use the space.
Heard a rumor yesterday that the city and Whitaker Bank are exploring the possibility of swapping Tates Creek for Andover. The city gets a new upscale public course and the bank gets property they can sell and develop.
Sounds like a plausible theory? Anyone else heard it? @cawoodsct?
- Only 214 days to play golf in Lexington during a year? That can't be right.
- With most public local courses having $20-$25 Golfnow options very few people are gonna pay $45 for Picadome ($50 for Kearney is a stretch but more will do that).
- Played Meadowbrook all during college so it has a special place in my heart (nearly chopped my pinkie off closing that giant metal garage for the old guy that used to run it, hit in the belly button while chipping on #1 by a tee-shot off #2, etc)... but it's kind of amazing it's still open.
- With that said, I only paid $7 to walk 14 holes at Lakeside tonight. There's some room for change.
I heard they were looking at swapping Lakeside for Andover. I would think Lakeside would be more valuable than Tates Creek as well. Not sure. Either way I think the city comes out ahead if either rumor is true.
Asking for my job? Don't think so bud. And last I checked chumps live their lives on a message board like you..drainthetub is a chump, but you asking for his job is a bit much.
Agree with all of this. Make Gay Brewer $40 is what i'd be ok with....$45 will drive more people away from there, Kearney im fine with $50, raise Seniors to $60 and im on board with nothing lower than $15 regardless of discount, better conditions less staff is good, and i rarely play in those winter times so im good with that and if i do ill go to the lexington course or somewhere else.My take away as someone who grew up and learned the game at TC, Lakeside and Meadowbrook (plus the late great Mason Headley Par 3!!):
1. Amen to less pro shop staff and more maintenance staff and money. Poor conditions will keep lots of golfers away
2. Older people have more disposable income and way more time than young people. They can afford to raise the senior rate to 60
3. No double discounts
4. Great idea to close the courses - not much reason to keep courses open in December and January, not enough sunlight and even if it is warm, courses are muddy and soggy, hard to maintain for a relative handful of players
5. Raise the greens fees some, I agree $45 is too much for Gay Brewer, but $35 is not, and Kearney (if in good condition, see no. 1 above) is certainly worth $50 to play.
P.S. I have a little inside knowledge and from what I hear, there is no legitimacy to the Andover for Lakeside/TC rumor.
