Tiger, Rory and Adam Scott to play the first two rounds together. Rory just shat himself.

Bad for tiger to have to play with former caddie. Hopefully it will fuel his focus.

Seems like the PGA is going out of their way to create controversy with the pair

ings. They knew him and Sergio playing together would cause a mess and paired them anyway, and I think they've paired Adam Scott (and Steve) with Tiger before too this year. I suppose they must do it for the ratings.

Tiger and Sergio were paired due to scores. Nothing to do with ratings.

I think the same is true with the adam Scott pairing earlier this year

It'll work and I think it's awesome for golf. It's a Heavyweight fight during golf's biggest event (US Open is bigger than the Masters but they both are by far the biggest two of the year).

No way us open is bigger. That's just a guess but I can't believe that is true

Yeah, thinking back

Those were Saturday/Sunday pairings. My bad.

But this one will certainly draw some viewers on Thursday and Friday that they may not have gotten otherwise, especially after the Sergio/Tiger debacle. And I suppose that's what it's all about. I know I'll be watching ...

USGA runs the open, but yes likely for the ratings.
Maybe Stevie won't put up with some of the crap Tiger does. He used to be a party to it, so he should know what it is.

Of course most of the crap is being a top 3 all time golfer and the best clutch putter to ever live.

The history of it (started in 1895, Masters in 1934), the extreme difficulty of the courses (at or around par has you winning or top 10, par at the Masters makes the cut but never wins) and that it's an "Open" format meaning anyone can qualify (very difficult to do but every year people qualify and play in the Open that would never get that opportunity in any other tournament) makes the Open the greatest tournament of the year. Don't get me wrong I love the Masters but the Open is #1.

I'd have to disagree. Dont get me wrong, the US national open is a huge deal but.... First, starting with the huge suspense that comes with The Masters. It's the first major of the year, nearly 8 months removed from the last major. Also, the fact that the Masters is held at Augusta National...which was started by Americas greatest amateur to ever play the game Bobby Jones. Also, you can argue that field is 'deeper' than the Open(however, the deepest fields of the year are at The Players and PGA Champ).

Augusta...it just has a magical feel. The US Open is all about being "golfs toughest test" which at times the USGA has blown wide open and basically made it unfair for players to play on. However, I do feel Merion will be a great setup this year,

I'm with GTA here. There is simply nothing like The Masters. And as far as this years U.S. Open, Andy North and Ryder Cup choke artist Curtis Strange feel the amount of water Merion has taken combined with how short the course is will have the pros throwing darts. They better make sure the fairways are narrow and they stop cutting the rough. That's probably why they made the pairings the way they did..give everybody some drama and something else to focus on.

Too bad they didn't pair Tiger, Adam and Sergio. That would have been one happy group.

I don't like how the PGA try's to use the US Open to conjur up ratings and drama. It would mean more if they were playing on Sunday together.
